Responsible for wine and beverage sales and service within an assigned restaurant station while delivering professional recommendations and attentive guest service.

Work aboard an American freestyle cruise line operating global itineraries across Alaska, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and other international destinations. Ship assignments and itineraries are determined by operational requirements.

• Open to Malaysian and Singaporean applicants only.

• Must be available for full-time shipboard employment.

• At least one year of experience as a Wine Waiter in a land-based restaurant or onboard a ship is required.

• Previous shipboard experience is not compulsory.

• Intermediate to advanced knowledge of wines and beverage products is required.

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of wines from different producing regions is required.

• Proven experience meeting beverage sales targets, maintaining service standards and achieving guest satisfaction is required.

• Intermediate to advanced spoken and written English is required.

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.

• Proof of continuing education through certificates or participation letters from specialised wine courses and seminars is required.

• Position-specific STCW training from an accredited institution must be completed before joining.

• Able to work seven days a week according to the shipboard schedule.

• Comfortable living and working in a multicultural environment and sharing limited accommodation space.

• Must meet the cruise line’s shipboard medical and physical fitness requirements.

• Successful candidates may be offered a position one or two ranks below their current land-based role, depending on their experience, interview performance and the cruise line’s assessment.

• Monthly salary: USD 1,633.57

• Contract duration: 36 weeks onboard, followed by approximately 2 months off.

• Promote and maximise wine and beverage sales within the assigned restaurant station.

• Present the wine list and recommend suitable wines, premium beverages and after-dinner drinks.

• Provide knowledgeable wine suggestions based on guests’ preferences.

• Serve wines correctly using the appropriate glassware and serving temperature.

• Monitor guests’ glasses, recommend additional bottles and confirm their satisfaction.

• Ensure all beverages are properly used, recorded and accounted for.

• Communicate guest feedback, complaints and service difficulties to the relevant supervisor.

• Assist with training crew members involved in wine sales and service.

• Support onboard wine-tasting seminars and other beverage-related activities.

• Create and maintain wine displays within the restaurants.

• Maintain wine lists, ice buckets, decanting equipment, glassware and other wine-service equipment.

• Handle wine pre-orders, gift orders and stateroom deliveries accurately.

• Label and store opened wine bottles according to company procedures.

• Assist with stocktaking and follow the approved pouring measurements for wines served by the glass.
