Job Description

Requirements

Ecoslink designs, installs and services Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS) for industrial clients across Malaysia, and services Expo purging systems for the oil and gas sector. Our engineering team — project engineers, a service engineer and technicians — currently reports directly to management. That stops with this hire. You will own the projects and service operation end to end: the schedule, the quality of the work, the discipline of the people and the systems they work in. Management will set direction and commercial priorities; you will run the engineering side and be accountable for its results. We are hiring an Assistant Manager because we want to see you build the team first, then formally hand you the Manager title — the path and the timeline are written into this document.

Responsibilities

Project delivery

• Keep every CEMS / system integration (SI) project on schedule from kick-off to commissioning and handover; run the weekly project review and escalate risks before they become delays.

• Stay flexible: when the company takes on a project type we have not done before, work out how to execute it — scope the method, find the partners or vendors, and lead the team through it — rather than waiting for a precedent.

• Make sure project engineers procure the correct items on time, and that received items are inspected, tested, labelled and stored properly before they go to site.

• Review every technical drawing (GA, wiring, P&ID) and client document before it leaves the company; raise the standard of our documentation until it needs no correction.

Service operations

• Oversee manpower planning for the shared pool. Customer Service prepares the schedule; you review it for efficiency — one team covers project integration work, CEMS site service and Expo site service — and make sure man-hours are optimised, clashes between project deadlines and site call-outs are resolved early, and nobody sits idle or gets double-booked.

• Ensure service reports, PMS submissions and DOE data issues are closed correctly and on time.

• Own the certification and access-pass pipeline for Expo and East Malaysia work so no job is blocked by missing compliance.

Quality and workmanship

• Set the workmanship standard for panels, wiring, sampling systems and site installation, and inspect against it —first-time-right, not rework.

• Design and enforce a workshop system: named ownership of areas, a home for every tool and product, and a routine that keeps it that way.

People and team

• Lead, coach and discipline the technicians, service engineer and project engineers directly. You are the person they come to, and the person accountable for how they perform.

• Change the mindset: from "do the task" to "own the outcome" — documentation, tidiness, escalation and follow- through are part of the job, not extras.

• Run the skill-rating and assessment system (Rating Scale, Skill Matrix, individual development sheets), verify levels, and drive the cross-training rotation so the business does not depend on any one person.

• Hire and build your own team as the business grows; make the call on who progresses, and on who does not. Management stays involved in these decisions until we see you are ready to make them alone.

• Be the bridge between staff and management: carry the team's problems and ideas upward honestly, and carry management's direction downward so it is understood and acted on — not just passed along.

• Approve overtime claims and hold the line on integrity — claims must match work actually done.

Systems and process

• Make the ERP the single source of truth: engineers enter POs, PRs, project records, inventory and service records correctly and on time, and you check that they do.

• Work with management and the team to write an SOP for every important task — calibration, commissioning, site service, DOE data handling, goods receiving and storage, report writing — and build a training programme on top of them so every new joiner and every cross-training rotation follows the same standard.

• Develop, together with management, a plan to capture man-hour utilisation per project and per person — then put it into practice so we can cost projects accurately and see where time actually goes.

• Explore automation — including AI-assisted generation of AutoCAD drawings — where it removes repetitive engineering work. This is a bonus, not a requirement.

Benefits

  • Annual Leave
  • EPF
  • SOCSO
  • EIS
