Job Summary


The Sales Manager leads the sales team, grows company revenue, develops key customer accounts, and expands distribution of our wine, spirits, beer, and beverage portfolio.


The role works closely with Management, Marketing, Trade Marketing, Operations, and brand principals to meet sales targets while strengthening the company's brands and customer relationships.


Key Responsibilities


Sales Performance & Team Management

  • Lead, manage, and motivate the Sales team to achieve monthly and annual sales targets.
  • Set clear individual and team sales targets, KPIs, and account priorities.
  • Monitor salesperson performance, customer visits, quotations, pipelines, and sales conversion.
  • Conduct regular sales meetings, performance reviews, and follow-ups with the team.
  • Coach the Sales team on product knowledge, selling techniques, account development, and customer management.
  • Identify performance gaps and implement improvement plans where required.


Business Development & Account Growth


  • Develop and grow new business opportunities across Hotels, Restaurants, Bars, Retail, Corporate, Events, and other relevant channels.
  • Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing key accounts.
  • Identify opportunities to increase product listings, distribution, order frequency, and sales value within existing customers.
  • Negotiate commercial terms, pricing, listings, promotions, and account agreements within company guidelines.
  • Personally manage selected major or strategic accounts when required.


Brand & Portfolio Development


  • Work closely with the Sales and Marketing teams to grow the company's wine, spirits, beer, and beverage portfolio.
  • Develop sales strategies for priority brands and products.
  • Support new product launches, brand activations, tastings, events, and promotional campaigns.
  • Ensure the Sales team understands key brand positioning, selling points, and product priorities.
  • Work closely with Trade Marketing to improve product visibility and execution at customer outlets.


Sales Planning & Reporting


  • Prepare regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, account reports, and performance summaries for Management.
  • Monitor sales by salesperson, brand, SKU, customer, and channel.
  • Identify underperforming areas and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide feedback on market conditions, customer demand, competitor activity, and pricing trends.
  • Work with Management on sales budgets, targets, incentives, and commercial planning.


Inventory & Operations Coordination


  • Work closely with Purchasing, Warehouse, Operations, and Finance to ensure sufficient stock availability for customers.
  • Provide sales forecasts to support purchasing and inventory planning.
  • Monitor slow-moving and ageing inventory and develop sales plans to improve stock movement.
  • Coordinate with Operations to ensure customer orders and deliveries are fulfilled accurately and on time.
  • Assist in resolving major customer issues relating to orders, stock, pricing, or service.


Credit & Collection Management


  • Work closely with Finance to monitor customer credit limits and outstanding payments.
  • Ensure the Sales team follows up on overdue accounts within agreed credit terms.
  • Support Finance in resolving significant customer payment or credit issues.


Requirements


  • Minimum 3-5 years of sales experience, preferably within wine, spirits, FMCG, hospitality, beverage, distribution, or related industries.
  • Previous experience managing a Sales team is strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of account management, business development, negotiation, and sales planning.
  • Able to manage both existing customers and new business development.
  • Comfortable working with sales targets, KPIs, forecasts, and performance reporting.
  • Strong communication, leadership, negotiation, and relationship-management skills.
  • Commercially driven with a hands-on approach to sales.
  • Possess own transport and willing to travel to customer locations when required.

We are looking for someone who is commercially driven, accountable, and hands-on — someone who can lead the Sales team while also actively developing customers and identifying new revenue opportunities.


The Sales Manager should be able to balance team leadership, customer relationships, brand development, and sales performance, while working closely with other departments to grow the overall business.
