Calling for Pro Bono Startup Mentors — TechUP.sg Founder Initiative

Your experience could help someone take their first step into entrepreneurship.

The TechUP.sg Founder Initiative is seeking experienced professionals, entrepreneurs, and industry specialists to volunteer as pro bono mentors, giving back to society by supporting aspiring founders and early-stage businesses.

Under our mission, “Building Businesses. Empowering People.”, we support people with meaningful ideas—including students, professionals navigating career transitions, and entrepreneurs who need guidance to move forward.

Alongside technology and MVP development support for selected ventures, we want to build a mentor network that helps founders make informed decisions throughout their startup journey.

Selected mentors will be featured on the 'Meet Your Mentors' section of the website.

[Where you can contribute]

We welcome expertise in one or more areas:

Discover: Design thinking, customer discovery, and problem identification.

Validate: Market research, business models, pricing and idea validation.

️ Build: Product strategy, MVP scoping, technology and user experience.

Launch: Go-to-market strategy, branding, marketing, sales and partnerships.

Grow: Customer retention, product–market fit and revenue growth.

Scale: Leadership, hiring, operations, financial planning and fundraising readiness.

[What you’ll do]

• Offer practical advice grounded in your experience.

• Help founders challenge assumptions, identify gaps and prioritise their next steps.

• Guide them towards realistic milestones and accountable action.

• Share relevant lessons, resources and connections where appropriate.

[Who we’re looking for]

Founders, business leaders and specialists with relevant experience—and the patience, empathy and willingness to guide people who are still finding their feet.

You should be comfortable offering honest, constructive feedback, respecting confidentiality and supporting founders from different backgrounds.

[Commitment & remuneration]

This is a voluntary, unpaid, pro bono role, undertaken as a contribution to society and the startup ecosystem.

Mentoring arrangements will be agreed based on your availability, expertise, and the needs of participating founders. You may contribute within your specialist area; you do not need to mentor across every stage.

For as little as 1–2 hrs a month, online or in person, you can MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
