Job Description

Responsibilities

Kuala Lumpur

This is a high-impact role providing dedicated investigation and case-management support to the Malaysia Ethics & Business Conduct Committee (EBCC), alongside employment-related advisory support. You’ll work closely with EBCC Partners, senior leaders and key stakeholders to deliver timely fact-finding, clear documentation and effective remediation tracking, ensuring concerns are handled fairly, consistently and professionally while strengthening our ethical culture and standards of conduct.

Key accountabilities

  • Serve as the primary case manager for assigned investigations coordinating initial assessment, planning, fact-finding, reporting and closure with Human Capital and other relevant stakeholders. Support investigations involving Partners and Directors under the leadership of an EBCC member Partner and the applicable investigation governance arrangements.
  • Review and assess Speak Up reports, identifying key issues, risks and investigation requirements.
  • Develop investigation talking points, recommend witness lists and interview strategies, and coordinate evidence collection. Coordinate and conduct interviews with complainants, witnesses and subjects, review relevant supporting evidence, and document the information obtained accurately and objectively.
  • Prepare clear, objective investigation reports that distinguish allegations, evidence, findings and recommendations, and present case updates to the EBCC. Provide analysis and recommendations to support decision-making; EBCC Partners retain accountability for all key judgements and decisions, subject to the firm’s applicable approval and governance arrangements.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and identify behavioural, cultural and conduct trends.
  • Provide practical guidance to the EBCC, the Office of General Counsel (OGC), Human Capital and firm leadership on Malaysian employment law, industrial relations, workplace conduct, disciplinary processes and procedural fairness. Review disciplinary documentation, proposed investigation outcomes, remediation measures, policies and workplace practices, identifying legal risks and obtaining specialist legal input where required.
  • Work closely with EBCC Partners, the Office of General Counsel (OGC), Human Capital and other stakeholders on sensitive employee matters. Track agreed remediation actions, responsible owners, target dates and completion evidence, and escalate overdue or unresolved actions to the EBCC.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential investigation case records and track case milestones, progress and closure documentation, coordinating with the designated owners of disciplinary and follow-up records. Prepare governance reporting and manage, execute and complete assigned ethics-related firm, regulatory and quality reviews, including the supporting evidence and follow-up actions.
  • Monitor emerging ethics and workplace conduct issues, together with relevant Malaysian employment law and industrial relations developments. Assess their implications for governance, policies and people practices, and contribute to initiatives that strengthen the firm’s ethical culture.
  • Support broader Office of General Counsel (OGC) activities across Malaysia, Vietnam and the wider South East Asia Peninsula (SEAPEN) region during periods of lower EBCC demand, while maintaining Malaysia EBCC support as the role’s primary priority.

Skills, experience and qualifications

Qualifications

  • Degree or relevant professional qualification in Law, Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business, Risk, Compliance or a related discipline.
  • Experience in an in-house legal, employee relations, ethics & compliance, investigations or professional services environment would be an advantage.
