Job Description

Responsibilities

At M.INTERIOR, we’re expanding with bigger projects and larger teams to fuel our mission. We need a Senior Designer who can lead and safeguard the consistency and quality of our design work as the studio scales.

You will work closely with our Creative Director to bring approved design direction to life, owning the development, detailing, documentation and delivery of projects from concept to site. You will plan and track design timelines, safeguard design intent through every stage, and guide the designers around you, while communicating clearly with internal teams, consultants, contractors and homeowners to ensure alignment and accuracy. This role is suited to a designer who takes ownership of their work, leads by example, respects process, and is committed to producing reliable, well-considered design outcomes.

*Candidates must have a portfolio of landed residential projects, including detailed construction drawings and projects taken through to completion.

With over 10 years of experience in residential design and build, M.INTERIOR continues to grow with a focus on thoughtful design, strong delivery standards and a better client experience. We are looking for forward-thinking, professional and responsible individuals who can contribute to this next stage with ownership, care and follow-through.

HOW TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE

The Role & Responsibilities

Design Ownership and Development

  • Project Ownership: Own multiple landed residential projects from concept to completion, taking responsibility for design development and quality in line with the Chief Designer’s direction.
  • Design Development: Interpret approved design direction into resolved layouts, material palettes and details, proposing considered refinements for the Chief Designer’s review.
  • Design Intent Stewardship: Safeguard design intent across drawings, specifications, vendor selections and site execution, flagging deviations early.
  • Client Meeting Support: Attend client meetings to communicate the approved design intent and any design changes, capture client feedback, and brief the design team so changes are accurately reflected in drawings and specifications.

Planning and Coordination

  • Design Planning and Timelines: Plan and track the design programme for each project, including milestones and approvals, and flag risks or delays early.
  • Cross-team Coordination: Coordinate with project managers, quantity surveyors, consultants, vendors, suppliers and the design team to keep design, budget and construction timelines aligned.
  • Budget Awareness: Ensure design selections and specifications are practical, available and aligned with project budgets.
  • Meeting Leadership: Lead design meetings, document decisions, and follow up on action items.

Drawings, Materials and Site Alignment

  • Drawing and Detail Review: Review the CAD drawings, 3D models and construction details required for development, coordination and construction, with attention to junctions, tolerances, buildability and material transitions.
  • Material and Moodboard Development: Develop mood boards and material references within approved direction, engaging with vendors and suppliers to ensure selections align with design intent, availability and practical application.
  • Site Alignment: Review site conditions and construction feedback to keep drawings accurate and up to date without deviating from approved design intent, and support site inspections and handover.
  • Quality and Standards Control: Maintain drawing standards, file organisation, naming conventions and documentation clarity to ensure consistency across all design outputs.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED

Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • CAD Skills: Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software, producing and reviewing accurate working drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections and detailed construction drawings that follow industry standards.
  • 3D Modeling and Visualization: Use CAD software to develop 3D models and visualizations that give clients, contractors and the design team a realistic representation of the designed spaces.
  • Material Specifications: Compile and review detailed specifications for materials, finishes and furnishings, including all information needed for procurement and installation.
  • Collaborative Revisions: Work closely with the design team, clients and contractors to keep technical documents current and accessible to all stakeholders.
