Responsibilities

Company Description Hompton Hotel Penang is a new and growing hotel located along the strategic Tanjung Tokong seafront, offering well-appointed rooms and suites for business travelers, leisure guests, and families. The hotel provides a homely atmosphere where guests can enjoy breakfast by the beach and a variety of serviced meals at its food and beverage outlets. Facilities such as a gymnasium and swimming pool support both productive and relaxing stays. Hompton focuses on creating a welcoming “home away from home” experience, emphasizing comfort, convenience, and attentive service for all guests.

Role Description The Duty Manager is responsible for overseeing daily hotel operations, ensuring smooth front office activities, and maintaining high standards of guest service throughout each shift. This full-time, on-site role in Batu Ferringhi includes supervising staff, handling guest inquiries and complaints, coordinating with housekeeping, F&B, and maintenance teams, and monitoring lobby and public area conditions. The Duty Manager manages room allocation, check-in and check-out processes, and ensures adherence to hotel policies, safety procedures, and service standards. The role also involves assisting with staff training, maintaining accurate records, and supporting management in implementing operational improvements to enhance guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Experience in hotel operations management, preferably in front office or guest services leadership roles.
  • Strong customer service and guest relations skills, with the ability to handle complaints and resolve issues effectively.
  • Solid communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact confidently with guests, colleagues, and external partners.
  • Organizational and problem-solving abilities, with attention to detail in daily operations and documentation.
  • Ability to supervise and motivate teams, support scheduling, and contribute to staff coaching and development.
  • Basic knowledge of hotel systems and software (e.g., property management systems, reservation platforms) is an advantage.
  • Understanding of safety, security, and emergency procedures in a hospitality environment.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays as required by hotel operations.
  • Diploma or degree in Hospitality Management, Tourism, Business, or a related field is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Proficiency in English; additional language skills commonly used by hotel guests are an added benefit.
