1. Role Overview
We are hiring a Lab Technician to provide technical support at HP's Material Science Laboratory in Singapore. The ideal candidate should have a relevant scientific background and practical experience operating analytical instruments used for materials testing, chemical analysis, and electronic product failure analysis.
Candidates with hands-on laboratory instrument experience, a strong understanding of materials analysis, and the ability to perform quality, reliability, and failure analysis will be preferred.
2. Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and ensure the proper functioning of analytical chemistry and materials testing laboratory equipment.
- Operate analytical instruments for electronic product testing and materials characterization.
- Provide technical support at the Material Science Laboratory.
- Perform quality, reliability, and failure analysis on electronic product assemblies.
- Conduct materials and chemical analysis using appropriate laboratory testing methods.
- Operate metrology equipment, including hardness testers, mechanical testing machines, and optical measurement systems.
- Support metallographic sample preparation and mechanical testing activities.
- Digitalize laboratory analysis results and maintain accurate testing records.
- Coordinate and prepare regular summaries of laboratory activities and facilities.
- Respond to technical requests and communicate laboratory findings clearly to relevant stakeholders.
3. Required Laboratory Instrument Experience
Candidates with hands-on experience in the following instruments will be prioritized:
- FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy)
- TGA (Thermogravimetric Analysis)
- XRF (X-ray Fluorescence)
- SEM-EDS (Scanning Electron Microscopy with Energy-Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy)
- X-ray analysis and radiography systems
- Digital microscopes
Additional relevant instruments and testing systems:
- GCMS (Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry)
- Real-time X-ray radiography systems
- Metallographic sample preparation equipment
- Mechanical testing systems
- Reliability testing systems
- Hardness testing equipment
- Optical measurement systems
4. Educational Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Science or a related discipline.
- Preferred fields of study:
- Applied Materials
- Chemistry
- Materials Science
- Related materials or chemical analysis disciplines
Important: Candidates with a biology background should not be considered for this position.
5. Preferred Technical Skills and Experience
- Hands-on experience in analytical chemistry and materials testing.
- Experience operating laboratory analytical instruments.
- Knowledge of materials characterization and chemical analysis methods.
- Exposure to quality testing, reliability testing, and failure analysis.
- Experience supporting electronic product testing or materials science laboratory activities.
- Ability to document, analyze, and digitize laboratory test results.
- Good communication skills and the ability to respond to customer requests.
