Our client is a leading global provider of semiconductor and electronics manufacturing equipment and solutions. Due to business needs, they are now recruiting a
Senior Engineer / Engineer, Product Quality (NPD)
to support new product development and ongoing product quality improvement initiatives. They are located in the
North
– easily accessible.
Responsibilities:
Lead quality assurance activities for semiconductor manufacturing equipment, modules and incoming components, covering product qualification, reliability testing, failure analysis and yield improvement.
Oversee equipment and machine integration projects, ensuring proper process integration and adherence to established quality standards.
Drive quality initiatives throughout the new product development and introduction (NPD/NPI) lifecycle, from design and product characterisation through qualification and production ramp-up.
Work closely with process engineering, manufacturing, fabrication and integration teams to establish and monitor quality performance indicators, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), defect reduction and key performance metrics.
Conduct root cause investigations for product and process quality issues, implement corrective and preventive actions, and support customer complaint resolution, including RMA and field return cases.
Collaborate with Field Service Engineers to monitor equipment performance at customer sites and drive product reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and participate in cross-functional engineering and quality improvement projects.
Travel locally and overseas to manufacturing facilities, suppliers and customer sites to support equipment integration, quality audits and technical troubleshooting when required.
Requirements:
Degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
At least 5 years of relevant quality engineering experience within the semiconductor industry.
Strong knowledge of quality engineering methodologies, including Statistical Process Control (SPC), 8D problem-solving, Six Sigma and root cause analysis.
Proven experience in semiconductor equipment or machine integration, including process tool qualification and integration into semiconductor manufacturing environments.
Hands-on experience in NPD/NPI activities, covering product characterisation, identification of critical-to-quality (CTQ) parameters, qualification test development, Measurement System Analysis (MSA) and production transfer.
Familiarity with production documentation and control requirements, including work instructions, standard operating procedures and inspection instructions.
Proficiency in data analysis tools such as JMP or Minitab, with the ability to interpret quality data and drive product and process improvements.
Knowledge of reliability testing, failure analysis and yield enhancement within semiconductor manufacturing.
Experience operating die bonding equipment in a high-volume manufacturing environment, as well as supplier or subcontractor quality management, would be advantageous.
Relevant quality certifications or training, such as Six Sigma Black Belt or APQP, would be an added advantage.
Willingness to travel locally and internationally for up to 30%, depending on business requirements.
Candidates with less experience may be considered for the Engineer, Product Quality position.
