Job Description

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Food Preparation:

  • Assist in the preparation of ingredients, including chopping, slicing, and measuring.
  • Learn cooking techniques and assist with the cooking and assembly of dishes.
  • Follow recipes and guidelines to ensure consistent quality and taste of dishes.
  • Help with the creation of garnishes and presentation of plated dishes.

Kitchen Operations:

  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, including proper storage of ingredients and equipment.
  • Assist in inventory management by monitoring stock levels and notifying the chef of any shortages.
  • Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, stoves, and food processors under supervision.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling and storage procedures.

Menu Planning:

  • Participate in menu planning discussions and contribute ideas for new dishes or specials.
  • Gain an understanding of menu items, including ingredients, cooking techniques, and presentation.

Learning and Development:

  • Attend culinary training sessions and workshops to enhance your culinary skills and knowledge.
  • Seek guidance from experienced chefs and kitchen staff to improve your cooking techniques.
  • Learn about kitchen management, cost control, and portion management.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work closely with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations during meal service.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues to coordinate food preparation and service.
  • Assist in maintaining a positive and respectful kitchen culture.

Special Events and Banquets:

  • Support the kitchen team in preparing food for banquets, events, and catering functions.
  • Help with event-specific menu planning and execution.

Qualifications:

  • Enrolled in a culinary arts program or a related field, or a strong passion for culinary arts.
  • Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and food safety.
  • Eagerness to learn and a passion for cooking.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high culinary standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Willingness to take direction from chefs and kitchen supervisors.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: RM1,000.00 per month
