Job Description

We are looking for interns to join the Data Innovation & Protection Group (DIPG) for our January to June 2027 internship cycle.


Scope of Work

  • Conduct an applied research study on an agreed topic relating to privacy-enhancing technologies, data protection, cybersecurity or trusted data use.
  • Review relevant academic research, regulatory publications, technical standards, industry practices and case studies.
  • Assess the benefits, risks, implementation requirements and challenges associated with the selected topic.
  • Identify key global trends, gaps and implications for organisations, technology providers and regulators.
  • Produce a research report, practical recommendations and a presentation of the findings. This would help translate the information gained into actionable work items.


Learning Outcomes

  • Formulating research questions and conducting structured technology and policy research.
  • Evaluating information from academic, regulatory, technical and industry sources.
  • Understanding the interaction between technology, cybersecurity, data protection and governance.
  • Communicating complex technical topics clearly to policy and non-technical audiences.
  • Candidates will also have a chance to learn more of the functions and activities of a data regulator (PDPC) and learn from experience team members and leaders.


Skills Required

  • Pursuing studies in computer science, cybersecurity, data science, engineering, public policy, law and technology or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of data protection, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence or data governance.
  • Strong research, analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to understand and explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Curious, organised and able to work independently on emerging and evolving topics.
