Job Description

Responsibilities

Be the person the CEO trusts with the numbers, every one of them. Own the full finance function of a growing Singapore tech company, across two countries, with a direct line to the CEO.

About Advocado

Advocado is a Singapore-built loyalty and CRM platform used by 1,500+ F&B and retail outlets across Southeast Asia, including Paradise Group, Dian Xiao Er, Song Fa Bak Kut Teh and Seoul Garden. Since 2016 we've helped merchants turn one-time customers into regulars. In 2026 we launched Awesome Free, a consumer deals platform, and partnered with yuu Rewards, connecting our merchants to one of Singapore's largest loyalty ecosystems.

We're a lean, founder-led team. That means real ownership, fast decisions, and work that visibly moves the company.

The role

You'll run finance end to end for Advocado Singapore (HQ) and its subsidiaries in Singapore and Malaysia, reporting directly to the CEO. You're the single source of truth on cash, compliance and payroll, and the CEO's go-to partner when big decisions need numbers behind them.

This is not a back-office seat. Like most growing companies, our cash flow has peaks and troughs. You'll be the one who sees them coming, plans for them, and keeps the business steady through them.

In your first 6 months, success looks like:

  • Month-end close done within 10 working days, every month
  • A rolling 13-week cash flow forecast the CEO relies on weekly
  • Zero late filings across GST, SST, CPF and IRAS
  • Merchant invoicing and collections running on a fixed monthly rhythm
  • At least one finance process automated or simplified

What you'll own:

Accounting & reporting

  • Maintain full sets of accounts for the SG HQ and its local and overseas subsidiaries
  • Close the books monthly and prepare management reports for the CEO
  • Handle inter-company billing and reconciliations
  • Reconcile bank, AR, AP and merchant reports

Cash flow & treasury

  • Own cash flow planning: forecast, flag risks early, and recommend which payments to prioritise when cash is tight
  • Run merchant invoicing with the team and drive timely collections
  • Manage supplier payments, invoices and expense claims
  • Support the CEO with financial data for fundraising, banking and investor conversations

Tax & compliance

  • Prepare and file GST (Singapore) and SST (Malaysia) returns on time
  • Be the main contact for auditors, tax agents and the corporate secretary

Payroll & HR administration (SG & MY)

  • Run payroll, CPF and statutory submissions
  • Handle leave, work passes, IR8A, IR21 and related filings
  • Keep all salary and personnel data strictly confidential

Continuous improvement

  • Spot what's slow or manual and fix it: templates, Xero automation, cleaner workflows
  • Provide ad hoc analysis when the CEO needs answers fast

Who you are:

Must-haves

  • 4+ years in accounting, with at least 2 years handling a full set of accounts end to end
  • Degree or diploma in Accountancy/Finance, or ACCA (or progressing)
  • Hands-on Xero cloud accounting experience.
  • Solid working knowledge of Singapore GST, CPF and IRAS filings
  • Strong Excel or Google Sheets skills: lookups, pivots, and building a clean forecast
  • Comfortable using AI tools (e.g. ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot) in your work; already using AI to speed up reconciliations, reporting or analysis is a strong plus

How you work

  • High integrity and discretion. You handle payroll, salary and company financial information with strict confidentiality, and have a track record of being trusted with sensitive data.
  • Composed under pressure. You stay calm during tight cash-flow periods, prioritise payments sensibly, and work with management on practical solutions. You're looking for a long-term role and want to grow with the company.
  • Strong sense of ownership. You work independently with minimal supervision, follow through on deadlines, and raise issues early.
  • Both strategic and hands-on. You're comfortable advising management on cash planning while also handling day-to-day transactions and reconciliations.

Nice to have

  • SST, payroll or EPF experience
  • Experience in a startup, SaaS or SME of 20–100 people
  • Multi-entity or cross-border consolidation

What we offer

  • Salary: SGD 5,000 – 6,500 per month, based on experience
  • Direct line to the CEO: your work shapes real decisions, not just reports
  • Room to grow into a Finance Manager role as the company scales
  • A modern stack: Xero, Google Workspace, and freedom to automate
  • Office-based in Singapore, in a small, no-politics team

Pay: $5,000.00 - $6,500.00 per month

Benefits:

  • Parental leave
  • Professional development

Education:

  • Bachelor's or equivalent (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Accounting: 4 years (Required)

Work Location: In person
