Job Description

Responsibilities

Company Description Wendi Foundation is a non-profit organization based in Uganda, dedicated to empowering individuals so they can drive sustainable development in their communities and nation. Since 2013, Wendi has focused on education, skills development, and community engagement to help people become effective leaders and agents of change. The foundation offers programs in quality education, vocational training, mentorship, and leadership development to support personal and professional growth. Wendi also collaborates with communities to implement practical, locally driven projects and advocates for policies that expand opportunities for nation-builders. Team members join a mission-driven environment that values empowerment, equity, and long-term impact.

Role Description The Children Projects Investor is a full-time remote role focused on identifying, evaluating, and supporting projects that improve the lives and future prospects of children. In this role, the individual will research potential child-focused initiatives, assess their impact, sustainability, and alignment with Wendi’s mission, and prepare investment proposals and recommendations. The position involves building relationships with local partners, project leaders, and community stakeholders, monitoring project performance, and providing ongoing support to ensure responsible use of funds and measurable outcomes. The Children Projects Investor will collaborate with internal teams to develop funding strategies, report on results to donors and leadership, and contribute to refining Wendi’s overall investment framework for children’s programs. Daily tasks include data collection, impact analysis, stakeholder communication, and documentation to ensure transparency and accountability.

Qualifications

  • Experience in impact investing, grant-making, or project funding for social or child-focused initiatives, with strong skills in project evaluation and due diligence.
  • Background in development studies, social work, education, economics, finance, or a related field, with the ability to analyze both qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Demonstrated skills in stakeholder engagement, partnership building, and community collaboration, especially in diverse or low-resource settings.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear proposals, reports, and presentations for internal and external audiences.
  • Proficiency with basic digital tools for remote work (e.g., office productivity software, online research tools, video conferencing platforms) and comfort working independently.
  • Understanding of child development, child protection principles, or education programming is highly beneficial.
  • Prior experience working with non-profit organizations, NGOs, or social enterprises in Africa or similar contexts is an advantage.
  • Commitment to Wendi’s mission, ethical investment practices, and inclusive, non-discriminatory approaches to working with children and communities.
