The Opportunity

Our client is a leading institutional bank in Singapore and is looking for an experienced Database Engineer to join their technology team.

A strong background within banking or financial services is essential for this position. We are looking for someone with 8–10+ years of relevant technology experience, strong hands-on SQL coding capabilities, and experience working within an enterprise financial environment.

This is a fully office-based role in Singapore, working closely with technology and business teams supporting critical banking applications and platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain database solutions supporting business and technology applications.
• Develop, write and optimise complex SQL queries, stored procedures and database scripts.
• Monitor database performance and carry out performance tuning and optimisation.
• Troubleshoot database-related issues and provide effective technical solutions.
• Support database enhancements, upgrades, migrations and technology projects.
• Work closely with Application Developers, Business Analysts, Infrastructure and other technology teams.
• Ensure database solutions meet standards around performance, security, availability and data integrity.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of database platforms and engineering practices.

Key Requirements

• At least 8 years of relevant Database Engineering / Database Development experience.
• Strong banking or financial services experience is essential.
• Experience within institutional banking, investment banking, capital markets, asset management or similar financial environments is highly relevant.
• Strong hands-on SQL coding experience.
• Good understanding of relational databases and database architecture.
• Experience in database performance tuning, optimisation and troubleshooting.
• Experience supporting enterprise-level applications and technology environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication skills with the ability to work across technology and business teams.
• Willingness to work fully from the office in Singapore.
