Software Developer Intern (AI & Event Tech) | Start January 2027
Pixels and Purpose (*************) is a creative technology and event management company. We design and run team building programmes, corporate and AI training (HRD Corp claimable), and full event production, then build our own tech to power them: interactive game platforms, live leaderboards, lucky draw systems, event apps and AI-driven activities.
Our clients include Koerber, Shell, Nestlé, Grab, Soilbuild (Singapore), Intel, Wan Hai and more, and our systems run live on stage with hundreds of players at once.
What you'll build with us
- Full-stack web apps with Next.js, React and PostgreSQL (front end = what users see, back end = the logic and database behind it)
- Real-time multiplayer systems for 600+ concurrent players (many people using the app at the same moment without it crashing)
- Database work with Prisma ORM (a tool that lets code talk to the database without writing raw SQL)
- Performance fixes: connection pooling, query optimisation, race conditions (keeping the app fast and making sure two users can't clash on the same data)
- Deployment via GitHub → Vercel/Railway (pushing code to the internet so it goes live)
- Live event tools: leaderboards, lucky draws, RSVP admin dashboards, multi-screen controllers (BroadcastChannel / WebSocket = keeping screens in sync instantly)
- Interactive dashboards with Chart.js (turning raw data into charts)
- Auto-generated documents: PowerPoint, Excel and Word via PptxGenJS, SheetJS and docx (code that creates files automatically)
- AI integration: prompting Claude & ChatGPT, calling AI APIs, generating images with ************* (connecting apps to AI models)
- AR / 3D prototypes with Three.js (3D graphics in the browser)
Beyond the code
- Event operations: running your systems live on-site, handling tech setup, screens and troubleshooting during events
- Team building facilitation: co-facilitating activities, guiding participants and running game stations alongside our trainers
Must have
- Basic AI knowledge (ChatGPT, Claude or similar)
- Basic coding foundation (HTML, CSS, JavaScript; React is a plus)
- Good English, written and spoken
- Responsible and able to own a task end-to-end
- Risk taker: comfortable trying new tech, experimenting and learning fast
- Future-ready: curious about where AI and tech are heading, and keen to keep upskilling
- Confident engaging with people and groups
- Willing to travel to event venues, including outstation
Details
- Hybrid: mostly remote and on-site at event and client venues; office at USJ 1, Subang Jaya only when needed
