Legal Counsel (Insurance) – Singapore

We are proud to be partnering with our client, a leading global insurance organisation with a growing presence across Asia. As the business continues to expand in the region, there is a need to appoint a Legal Counsel. This is a commercially minded lawyer who will provide legal and regulatory support to the regional business.

Position Overview

Based in Singapore and reporting to the regional Head of Legal, you will act as a trusted legal partner to the business, working closely with stakeholders across various functions. You will advise on a broad range of legal, regulatory and governance matters across the region. You will also help strengthen the legal frameworks and processes supporting the regional platform as it grows.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will draft, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial and insurance-related contracts and documentation. You will provide practical legal advice to business stakeholders on insurance, regulatory, corporate governance and data protection matters. You will support product development and ensure documentation complies with local regulatory requirements and internal standards. You will keep the business informed of regulatory developments in Singapore and across the region. You will also work with external counsel on cross-border matters and disputes as needed. In addition, you will contribute to regional and group-wide projects, including governance and structural initiatives.

The Successful Applicant

The ideal candidate is a common law qualified lawyer with 3–6 years of post-qualification experience, gained in private practice and/or in-house within the insurance or financial services sector. You will bring a good understanding of insurance law and the Singapore regulatory landscape. You have strong commercial judgement, along with excellent drafting, negotiation and communication skills. You are a self-starter who works well both independently and as part of a regional team.
