POSITION PURPOSE

The Senior Petroleum Engineer is responsible for daily production surveillance, well performance optimisation, flow assurance and production enhancement activities to maximise production and asset value. The role involves identifying production losses, troubleshooting well and production system issues, recommending corrective actions and supporting well intervention activities. The candidate will work closely with Operations, Wells, Facilities and Reservoir Engineering teams to ensure safe, reliable and efficient production. In addition, the role will support reservoir management, field development planning, production forecasting, engineering studies and asset evaluations, as required.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Production Surveillance: Monitor daily well and field production performance, identify production shortfalls and recommend timely corrective actions to minimise losses and maximise production.
  • Production Optimisation: Conduct well performance analysis and production system modelling to identify and implement optimisation opportunities, including gas lift, choke optimisation, well unloading and production system debottlenecking.
  • Well Diagnostics and Troubleshooting: Lead well diagnostics and troubleshooting activities, including well testing, production logging, pressure surveys and evaluation of well performance issues.
  • Well Intervention: Identify, evaluate and support well intervention activities, including candidate screening, technical justification, production gain estimation, execution support and post-job performance evaluation.
  • Flow Assurance: Conduct flow assurance studies and troubleshooting, including wax & scale deposition risks, production chemistry, thermal behaviour and production system constraints, and develop practical mitigation strategies to maintain production reliability.
  • Production Forecasting and Reporting: Maintain short-term production forecasts, track production losses and recovery plans, and provide regular updates on production performance, key risks and optimisation opportunities.
  • Engineering Studies: Conduct production engineering studies, including well modelling, production network modelling, completion design, sand control and production system optimisation.
  • Development Planning: Support reservoir management and field development activities, including preparation of technical inputs for Field Development Plan (FDP) and Full Field Review (FFR).
  • Technology Screening: Identify and evaluate new technologies and production enhancement opportunities to improve production performance, operational efficiency and asset value.
  • Production Delivery: Work closely with Operations, Wells, Facilities and Subsurface teams to drive production performance against agreed targets and ensure timely implementation of improvement initiatives.
  • Data Management: Maintain accurate well performance databases, production histories, well intervention records and engineering documentation.
  • Technical Assurance and Mentoring: Ensure engineering activities comply with company HSE requirements and technical standards, while providing technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers.
