About AI Singapore
AI Singapore (AISG) is a national initiative driven by the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI), the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), and the National Research Foundation, Singapore (NRF). AISG brings together Singapore-based research institutions and the broader ecosystem of AI start-ups and companies to support use-inspired research, grow knowledge, create tools, and develop the talent to power Singapore’s AI efforts.
Role Description
AI Singapore’s AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP) is a full-time, 6 or 9 month programme designed to develop industry-ready AI practitioners. AIAP offers three tracks: AI Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) and Sovereign AI Engineer.
AI Engineer: Build and Deploy AI Applications. For aspiring engineers who want to master end-to-end AI engineering from building to deployment.
Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE): Scope, Build and Deploy AI Applications. For aspiring engineers who want to go beyond building and deploying AI, and into project scoping with clients. FDE apprentices are selected from the AI Engineer track after Month 2 of the programme.
Sovereign AI Engineer: Adapt, Host and Deploy AI Models. For aspiring engineers who want to enable their organisations to run their own models and infrastructure.
Apprentices undergo two phases of structured training: the Deep-Skilling Phase and the Project Phase. In the Deep-Skilling Phase, they build the knowledge and skills their track requires. In the Project Phase, they are placed in project teams delivering real AI solutions for industry sponsors through AI Singapore’s 100 Experiments (100E) initiative. Working alongside full-time AI engineers and MLOps specialists, apprentices build and deploy production-level AI systems for organisations across sectors such as healthcare, engineering, insurance, maritime and the public sector — writing production-grade code, optimising cloud infrastructure, and solving the complex challenges that keep intelligent systems secure, scalable, and reliable, across the full AI lifecycle.
Note: Depending on your track, you will be trained to be an AI Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer or Sovereign AI Engineer in 6 or 9 months

Eligibility
Technical Qualifications
Selection Process
Shortlisted candidates will undergo a technical assessment and interview process to assess technical readiness. You will be placed in the track best suited to you, based on your results and track preference.
Fresh Graduate AI Bootcamp
Fresh graduate? There’s another way in. The Fresh Graduate AI Bootcamp (FAB) offers a potential pathway into AIAP, subject to successful completion of the capstone project and meeting the required standards.
Instead of the technical assessment, you complete a 3-week bootcamp (2 – 23 Dec 2026) covering applied AI fundamentals, software engineering, AI coding assistants, and LLM application building, with a real-world capstone project in the final week. Participants who meet the mark in the capstone will be offered a place in AIAP Batch 25, starting 25 January 2027.
Free to join, with no stipend during the bootcamp
How to Apply?
Apply via the official AIAP site: https://aiap.sg/apprenticeship. Only applications submitted via the official AIAP application form will be considered.
One application covers all three tracks, so indicate your preferred track, and if you would like to join FAB.
