Role Description The Firewall Engineer will be responsible for managing, configuring, and maintaining firewall solutions to ensure secure and reliable network operations. This contract role is based on-site in WP. Kuala Lumpur and involves monitoring network traffic, implementing security policies, and performing regular firewall rule reviews and optimizations. The position includes identifying and mitigating security threats, conducting root-cause analysis of network security incidents, and collaborating with network and IT teams to design secure architectures. The Firewall Engineer will also document configurations and procedures, support audits and compliance requirements, and provide technical guidance on best practices in network and information security.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in Network Engineering, including routing, switching, and firewall configuration.
• Experience in Network Security and Cybersecurity, with a focus on perimeter defense and secure network design.
• Proficiency in Troubleshooting complex network and firewall issues in high-availability environments.
• Knowledge of Information Security principles, standards, and best practices.
• Hands-on experience with leading firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto, Fortinet, Check Point, Cisco ASA/Firepower).
• Familiarity with VPN technologies, IDS/IPS, and network monitoring tools.
• Relevant certifications such as CCNA/CCNP, NSE, PCNSE, or CISSP are an advantage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Willingness to work on-site in WP. Kuala Lumpur and support occasional after-hours or on-call activities as needed.
