We are looking for a Procurement Specialist to join our Purchasing team in Malaysia and support material readiness, production continuity, and customer commitments across our global supply chain. In this role, you will manage material constraints, drive supplier recovery plans, and align material availability with factory build plans while proactively addressing supply risks and demand fluctuations. Responsibilities
- Align material availability with factory build plans to ensure supply readiness and minimize production disruptions.
- Identify material shortages, supply gaps, and delivery risks, and communicate their impact on production schedules and customer commitments.
- Develop and execute material recovery plans by establishing clear actions, timelines, and accountability.
- Engage suppliers to resolve capacity constraints, lead-time risks, delivery delays, and other supply-related issues.
- Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions to address material shortages, planning errors, demand changes, and supply misalignment.
- Coordinate with Planning, Procurement, Program Management, Manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to resolve material constraints and support production requirements.
- Communicate material availability, critical part status, recovery progress, and potential risks to customers, stakeholders, and leadership.
- Develop and manage demand volatility buffers and risk buy strategies to protect production continuity while balancing inventory exposure, cost, and business risk.
- Monitor supplier performance, material recovery progress, and supply chain risks, driving timely resolution and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in material management, supply chain, procurement, production planning, or a related operational discipline.
- Hands-on experience managing material shortages, supplier escalations, and recovery plans in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and material planning processes.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills, with the ability to analyze material data, identify supply risks, and prepare reports.
- Strong understanding of supplier management, production planning, inventory control, lead times, and material availability.
- Ability to communicate supply risks, escalations, and recovery plans clearly to suppliers, customers, stakeholders, and senior management.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and results-driven, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently while influencing cross-functional teams to achieve business and customer commitments.
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in the semiconductor industry or a complex manufacturing environment.
- Experience with Oracle, SAP, Agile PLM, or other ERP/PLM systems.
- Knowledge of Demand Driven MRP (DDMRP), Kanban, safety stock, and supplier replenishment programs.
- Experience developing risk buy strategies, managing inventory exposure, and supporting demand volatility buffer programs.
- Demonstrated success in improving supplier delivery performance, reducing material shortages, or protecting production schedules.
