About the role

We are looking for a VMware Administrator to join our team in an agile environment. You will administer and develop our VMware platforms across two data centres, including ESXi, vCenter, Horizon, Aria Operations and Aria Operations for Logs. In this role, you will help ensure the performance, integrity, availability and security of the virtual infrastructure, while supporting automation, capacity planning, operational stability and continuous improvement.

Your key responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, maintain and troubleshoot VMware infrastructure, ensuring platform performance, stability, availability and customer-focused service delivery.
• Deploy, upgrade and manage virtual servers and appliances, as well as maintain the related physical server hardware in the data centres.
• Administer VMware solutions including ESXi, vCenter Server, Horizon, Aria Operations and Aria Operations for Logs.
• Monitor system capacity and health, perform performance analysis, identify bottlenecks and prepare operational and capacity-planning reports.
• Support backup, recovery and replication processes, ensuring reliable and resilient server operations.
• Implement and maintain security policies and controls in virtual environments, supporting the integrity and security of company information and IT data.
• Automate operational tasks using VMware PowerCLI and support the ongoing improvement of infrastructure operations.
• Maintain system documentation, process definitions and change-related records; execute test scenarios and perform error analysis and resolution.
• Work closely with vendors, service providers, users and internal stakeholders to address requirements and provide infrastructure support.
• Handle clearly defined vulnerability, incident, change and request tickets, and participate in a weekly rotating on-call service.

What you bring

• At least 5 years of professional experience in IT operations, with responsibility for systems and/or complex operational processes.
• Extensive hands-on knowledge of VMware vSphere, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server and vSphere Client, as well as Aria Operations and Aria Operations for Logs.
• Good understanding of virtualization concepts, virtual machines, resource management and virtual network configuration.
• Experience with virtual networking technologies, including VLANs, vSwitches and NSX.
• Knowledge of storage technologies such as SAN, NAS and VMware vSAN.
• Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems, as well as IaaS administration cloud services.
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions, such as Veeam or VMware Data Protection.
• Knowledge of VMware PowerCLI for task automation and experience with monitoring and hardware-monitoring tools.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical and performance-optimization skills, with the ability to quickly identify and resolve issues.
• A degree from a university or university of applied sciences in IT or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Very good communication and collaboration skills, a strong service and results orientation, and the ability to work independently in agile teams.
• Written and spoken English skills; German language skills are an advantage but not required.
