What The Role Is

You will spend time undertaking policy reviews and research/analyst work in the two energetic and fast-paced Directorates in NPTD:

The Population Policy & Planning Directorate (PPD) drives the whole-of-government effort to tackle challenges and seize opportunities associated with Singapore’s current and future population.

The Marriage and Parenthood Policy Directorate (MPPD) drives and co-ordinates whole-of-government efforts to encourage and support Singaporeans in fulfilling their marriage and parenthood (M&P) aspirations.

What You Will Be Working On

Under PPD

  • Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses on population trends projections and policy issues using methods such as statistical analysis, forecasting, econometric modelling and randomised control trials
  • Coordinate and drive collaborative population-related policy research and analytics with government agencies and external partners (including academics)
  • Provide accurate and timely updates on population trends and scenarios to management
  • Provide input on the classification, use and interpretation of population-related data across government
  • Develop recommendations to address Singapore’s evolving population needs and challenges

Under MPPD:

  • Undertake research and analysis relating to M&P trends and emerging challenges (in the Singapore and international contexts)
  • Formulate and review policies to support M&P, consulting and working with diverse stakeholders within and outside the public sector
  • Work through operational details with relevant agencies to ensure the smooth roll-out and implementation of policies
  • Develop innovative public communications to enhance our strategic messaging and foster a more family-friendly environment in Singapore

What We Are Looking For

  • Technical proficiency – strong quantitative skills (e.g., proficient in R or Python), including the confidence to work with large datasets and data analytical tools.
  • Deep critical thinking with an eye for detail – strong critical thinking, with the ability to interrogate assumptions, assess trade-offs, and synthesise insights across data and policy domains.
  • Strong interpersonal skills – the ability to work with many stakeholders daily.
  • Team player – we believe good work is borne out of good teamwork and strong teams.
  • Intellectually curious and highly adaptable – must be able to embrace new methodologies and tools.
  • Resourceful and confident, with a strong commitment to excellence
