Quoting & Breakdown Engineer (SolidWorks / Metal Fabrication)

About the Role
Korrell Industries specialises in biomass machinery, custom equipment and metal fabrication.
We are looking for an engineer with strong practical SolidWorks skills to handle drawing breakdown, costing, quotations and production support. You will also carry out design modifications and straightforward component and assembly design.
You should be comfortable turning customer drawings and 3D models into accurate material lists, reliable costings and drawings that our factory can manufacture.
Your Responsibilities
SolidWorks Design and Drawing Preparation
- Create and modify 3D parts, assemblies and detailed 2D fabrication drawings.
- Design straightforward components, brackets, frames and sheet metal parts.
- Modify existing designs to suit customer requirements and fabrication methods.
- Use SolidWorks sheet metal tools to prepare flat patterns for laser cutting and bending.
- Check dimensions, fit, clearances and assembly relationships.
- Maintain accurate drawing revisions and organised design files.
Drawing Breakdown and Costing
- Review customer drawings, models and specifications.
- Break down assemblies into individual parts and prepare bills of materials, cutting lists and quantities.
- Identify material grades, thicknesses, sizes and required fabrication processes.
- Prepare costings for plate and tube laser cutting, bending, machining, drilling, tapping, welding, finishing and assembly.
- Obtain supplier quotations and prepare customer quotations for management approval.
- Identify missing information and clarify requirements before quoting or production.
Ordering and Production Support
- Prepare purchase requisitions and coordinate material and component ordering.
- Issue complete drawings and job information to production.
- Work with the factory team to clarify drawings and resolve fabrication issues.
- Follow up on material availability, drawing changes and outstanding items.
- Highlight issues that could affect quality, cost or delivery.
What We Are Looking For
- Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering or a related field. Candidates with relevant practical experience are also encouraged to apply.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks is essential, including part modelling, assemblies and detailed 2D drawings.
- Practical knowledge of SolidWorks sheet metal tools and flat-pattern preparation is strongly preferred.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate drawings suitable for fabrication.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and understand dimensions, tolerances and material specifications.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel for costing and material breakdown.
- Experience in sheet metal, laser cutting, machinery or metal fabrication is an advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, organisation and follow-through.
- Ability to commute reliably to Batu Gajah, Perak.
