Overview
Join our Operating Theatre team and play an important role in supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality surgical care. As an Operating Theatre Assistant, you will assist in preparing operating theatres, supporting patient transfers, and maintaining a clean and organised surgical environment.
This role is suitable for individuals who are dependable, attentive to details, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
Responsibilities
Support patient care activities before, during and after surgical procedures.
Prepare operating theatres according to the daily surgical schedule.
Check, maintain, and ensure readiness of operating theatre equipment.
Collect, bag, and clear soiled linen from operating theatres, disposal areas, and changing rooms.
Segregate and dispose of general and biohazard waste in accordance with established safety protocols.
Transport patients safely between wards and the operating theatre.
Perform despatch and logistical support duties as required.
Replenish, organise, and maintain operating theatre supplies and inventory.
Adhere to infection control, workplace safety, and operational procedures.
Requirements
Secondary education or equivalent qualification.
Able to work rotating 3-shift schedules, including weekends and public holidays.
Able to perform duties that involve prolonged standing, walking, pushing equipment, and assisting with patient transfers.
Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Attentive to hygiene, infection control, and safety standards.
