Job Description
Responsibilities
Lead a team responsible for the end-to-end financial accounting and management of organisation-owned fixed assets, including assets held by Public Transport Operators (PTOs).
You will oversee the accurate and timely recording, tracking, and reporting of organisation-owned fixed assets in line with the organisation's accounting policies and the applicable Statutory Board Financial Reporting Standards (SB-FRS). This includes ensuring compliance, maintaining complete and accurate fixed assets data, managing the fixed assets confirmation exercises with PTOs, completing year-end closing on time, and supporting audits by addressing queries promptly and thoroughly.
You will also serve as a subject matter expert on PTO-held fixed assets matters, providing advisory support to the organisation's divisions on fixed asset policies, accounting treatment and operational requirements. This includes guiding stakeholders on the proper treatment and classification of PTO-held assets, advising on fixed assets implications for new projects or initiatives, and developing well-considered proposals to address operational or accounting challenges as they arise.
You will proactively identify gaps and inefficiencies in existing fixed assets processes and lead the team in designing and implementing improvements that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and effectiveness of fixed assets management and accounting. This includes engaging relevant PTOs and stakeholders on accounting policy and practice matters to support process enhancements. You will also actively champion the use of technology (including AI and digitalisation tools) to modernise workflows and reduce manual effort.
You will strengthen process governance through the review and enhancement of documentation, guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), ensuring they remain current, practical and aligned with evolving business, operational and accounting requirements.
You will lead and support a team of finance professionals by providing technical guidance, coaching team members and facilitating capability development. You will foster a culture of accountability, collaboration and continuous learning, while managing workloads to ensure the team operates effectively and sustainably. You will also support onboarding and upskilling efforts as processes evolve, ensuring the team remains equipped to meet changing fixed assets requirements.
