JOB SUMARY

Responsible for Automation & Instrumentation maintenance and project activities. Evaluate all the maintenance event (breakdown and preventive demands) to propose solution and support maintenance process inspection, planning and execution to guarantee and improve equipment and system availability. Assist Maintenance Supervisor on preparing, compiling and analyse all document related to arrangement of Health, Safety and Environment Control and Monitoring, Sustaining of 5S maturity, Continuous Improvement activities through KAIZEN, VPS Compliance, Maintenance Work Order arrangement and allocation, validating control risk assessment, maintenance performance tracking, control and monitor for productivity and performance KPI.

Compile all SOP / MOS (Method of statement) JSA, Job Safety Analysis and monitor Maintenance Service Contract as per Audit purpose, BMS Verification and monitoring: Ensures that contract planning to be submitted on time, Analyst cost & budget.

Role Purpose:

Improve on Electrical & Automation Maintenance efficiency thru KPI Control and monitoring for Safety, Productivity, Quality and Cost.

• Technical authority for automation maintenance and instrumentation activities across VMM operations.
• Responsible for governance and performance management of outsourced automation contracts.
• Influences automation system availability, maintenance effectiveness, and shutdown performance.
• Leads automation reliability improvement initiatives and competency development programs.
• Provides technical guidance for automation system upgrades, maintenance strategies, and continuous improvement projects.

• Ensure quality and safety compliance during critical shutdown and major automation interventions.
• Influence multiple stakeholders across Operations, Maintenance, Projects, Engineering, and Contractors without direct authority.
• Continuously identify and implement innovative solutions to improve automation performance and reduce lifecycle costs
• In the event of any unexpected issues; breakdown or critical situation, the job holder might be required to work beyond than the official working hours
  
  

Main Responsibilities

• Act according to the ethical code of the company, passing the values to team.
• Execute routine safety and technical inspections on equipment and execution of task on site. Assure the health and safety procedures for Vale employees and Business Partners trough Active Genuine Care
• Participate in meetings on daily basis; Toolbox talk, Daily Manager FMDS meeting, Shutdown Progress Meeting and other meeting when required.
• Support actions to achieve target of equipment availability and installations throughmaintenance activities for Automation & Instrumentation either by automation staff or contractors while comply to VMM HSE Procedures.
• Compile, analyse, identify and updating FMDS and KPI monitoring on weekly basis for Safety, People, Productivity, Quality and Cost.
• To compile and update all relevant document related to YPM ensuring it is according to plan and relevant to current situation while fulfil the maintenance and HSE requirement. Orientate, develop and teach technically the team in order to improve quality works and performance.
• Assure maintenance knowledge through coordination, elaboration and update of the operational procedures, instruction and standards. Leading team to initiate MOC, MOS and JSA especially job awarded to contractor before sending a demand to planning team. To continuous review and revise all related document related to Automation and Instrumentation such as SOP, Work Instruction, JSA and etc.
• Assist supervisor to ensure all controls are being tested and working to guarantee that risks are monitored and controlled. Contribute in detection, report and eliminate of abnormalities in the operational process through control of the process variables, using quality tools such as Pareto, Failure Analysis, Loss Profile and Others that could be applied.
• Assist on 5S initiative (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) methodology to maintain workplace to a set maturity.
• Liaise with Planning team on maintenance plan (Offline, Opportunity and Shutdown) for Automation. Ensure scheduling and executing as per agreed plan to comply with department KPI. Execute initial control for new assets and follow maintenance engineering procedures.
• Site verification for work to be performed during shutdown of equipment, based on the recommendations from Maintenance Plan and analyse of portfolios of services, priority setting and sequences in order to comply with Maintenance Plan.
• Assist to implement Maintenance Management System and VPS implementation to adhere to all 14 element such as FMDS, DBM / DBO.
• Assist engineering team to analyse equipment breakdown failures, proposing improvements initiative and lead to execute the corrective and improvement activities proposed.
• Carry out responsibilities as Contract Inspector by review and validating all action taken and required action in monthly contract meeting. Manage contracts with third parties for maintenance service and spot maintenance support, controlling and applying Vale rules for contract management to assure quality of contracted service through monitoring of the fulfillment of the contractual works.
• Develop analysis tools for decision making, as well as data to inform budgeting. Elaborate, controlling and guarantee the budget execution by giving support to the contract management.
• Monitor the implementation of planned activities, noting deviations, to identify and propose improvements to be incorporated and adapted to future planning.
• Lead for Kaizen activity (using PDCA mode) to improve team daily routine by providing communication to team and other parties especially planning and provide a proactive feedback process between the technicians and management. Develop improvement project taking care from the basic project, details engineering, execution,commissioning and test till ramp up.
• Plan for training schedule with Training Centre, monitor expire date of all the staff under maintenance service.
• Preventive Maintenance: To escalate and ensure all assets and equipment which require further maintenance treatment will be registered in SAP. The escalation of any maintenance treatment needed for all automation equipment to inspector and engineer as well as electrical head on the necessary action in term of immediate/ quick fix and long-term solution required to avoid any incident or failure of equipment.

Experience

• Experience: Minimum 3 years working related to instrumentation and automation.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Instrumentation / Automation
• Effective leadership ability with effective i nterpersonal skills
• Able to work cross functionally and collaboratively with many stakeholders with a track record of proven experience of leadership, motivation and engaging teams.
• Lean Maintenance knowledge and recognized problem solving tools.
• Work independently with minimal supervision
• Communicate with clarity and demonstrate excellence approach to work with people activities.
