Pastry Chef

Location: Publika, Kuala Lumpur

Employment Type: Full Time

Salary: RM3,000 to RM4,500 per month

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and creative Pastry Chef to join our café team at Publika, Kuala Lumpur

The ideal candidate must have strong pastry and baking skills, with the ability to develop new products, maintain consistent quality and manage daily pastry production

Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare and produce a variety of pastries, breads, croissants and baked goods

2. Handle croissant production, including dough preparation, lamination, proofing and baking

3. Prepare artisan breads, including sourdough and other bakery products

4. Research and develop (R&D) new pastry, bakery and dessert products for the café

5. Create and improve recipes based on quality, taste, presentation and cost

6. Ensure consistent product quality, freshness and presentation

7. Manage daily baking schedules, ingredients and production planning

8. Maintain kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards

9. Monitor ingredient usage, food costs and minimise wastage

10. Work closely with the management team on seasonal menus and new product launches

Requirements

1. Minimum 3 to 5 years of working experience in pastry, bakery or a professional kitchen

2. Certificate or Diploma in Culinary Arts, Pastry Arts, Baking or a related field

3. Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, bread making and baking processes

4. Hands on experience in making croissants, laminated pastries and sourdough bread

5. Able to independently develop new recipes and conduct product R&D

6. Good understanding of ingredients, baking temperatures, fermentation and dough handling

7. Creative, detail oriented and passionate about pastry and bakery products

8. Able to work independently and manage daily production

9. Good time management and ability to work in a fast paced café environment

Preferred Skills

• Experience working in premium cafés, artisan bakeries or hotels

• Knowledge of modern pastry trends and café style bakery products

• Experience in food costing and recipe standardisation

• Ability to develop signature pastries and unique bakery products

Pay: RM3,000.00 - RM4,500.00 per month
