The Role
We are partnering with a highly innovative fintech company in Kuala Lumpur to find a Senior Application Developer (VB.NET). Unlike traditional legacy maintenance roles, this is a unique bridge position in a fast-paced, AI-forward environment. While the company's core internal business logic relies heavily on VB.NET, all new features and external platforms are being built in TypeScript. We are looking for an experienced developer who is highly proficient in VB.NET but possesses a deeply modern, AI-driven mindset. If you are eager to automate workflows, leverage AI, and learn new technologies rather than being stuck in the "old school" ways of doing things, this role is for you.
Responsibilities
- Core System Ownership: Maintain, support, and enhance the core internal business logic and internal-facing platforms built in VB.NET.
- AI Automation: Actively speak with internal users to deeply understand their workflows and design AI-driven solutions to automate manual internal processes.
- Tech Stack Bridging: Collaborate closely with the broader engineering team as the company builds out new features and external client-facing platforms in TypeScript.
- Modernize & Innovate: Utilize AI tools (such as Claude CODE and OpenAI) in your daily workflow to write code faster, debug, and streamline operations.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 4–5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience. (A background in finance or accounting is highly advantageous, but not strictly required).
- Technical Mastery: Deep, hands-on proficiency in VB.NET architecture and development.
- Modern Mindset & Adaptability: You must be willing and excited to pick up new technologies (like TypeScript) and integrate AI into your daily workflow. Rigid, "old school" developers will not be a cultural fit.
- Radical Ownership: Ability to thrive in a lean, flat hierarchy (about 25 people globally) with a strict "no spoon-feeding" culture. You must take full ownership of your projects from start to finish.
- Communication: Strong stakeholder communication skills to gather requirements directly from internal users and translate them into automated tech solutions.
- Assessment Readiness: Must be able to pass a rigorous technical deep-dive interview with the CTO, demonstrate true project ownership, and successfully complete a live coding assessment.
Benefits
- Employee Share Option Plan (ESOP).
- Comprehensive Health Insurance (Personal Accident, Hospital & Surgical, Term Life).
- Generous annual leave and leave entitlements.
- Paid Claude Code Plan subscription.
- Extra benefits including various medical/wellness allowances, education opportunities, and long-service awards.
