Job Description

Responsibilities

I'm hiring for a 12-month contract with a global MNC. We need someone to shape how their data center estate across multiple countries is planned, expanded and modernized. The role sits between data center infrastructure, network architecture, capacity planning and business strategy. You will work with the network architecture, hosting and sourcing teams, external engineering consultants and colocation providers, and take your recommendations straight to senior technology leadership.

What you will be doing: You will set the standard for what a good data centre looks like, covering how racks are provisioned, what power density is assumed per rack type, and how structured cabling is laid out. You will review existing sites in depth, looking at how much power and cooling is available against what has actually been used, how demand has grown, and where space or equipment can be recovered. Where outside engineering studies are needed, you will commission them, interpret the findings and turn them into a clear recommendation.

You will also build costed options for growth, such as reclaiming existing space, adding racks or taking new whitespace. Each option will show its capital, one-time and recurring costs, so leadership can see the trade-offs and back a direction. You will question how racks and network connectivity are designed today, including device placement, redundancy, legacy versus pod-based connectivity, cabling media and uplink standards, and push for change where the design no longer serves the business. You will negotiate power uplifts, containment changes and cage expansions with colocation providers, and manage consultants and cabling vendors from survey through to quotation and delivery.

What you should bring: You have a solid background in data centre design, engineering, infrastructure strategy or capacity planning, ideally across more than one site or country. You understand data centre mechanical and electrical systems well, including UPS, PDUs, CRAC/AHU units, cooling capacity, containment and three-phase power distribution. You are also comfortable on the network side. You can read switch configurations, count ports and follow spine-leaf and pod-based designs well enough to challenge them. You have built business cases and cost models and presented them to senior stakeholders. You have negotiated with colocation providers, landlords, consultants and vendors.

It would be a plus if you know the Uptime Institute Tier standards, ASHRAE thermal guidelines and APAC regulatory requirements. DCIM and capacity forecasting tools, experience in large or regulated enterprise environments, and a certification such as CDCP are also helpful.

if you have the necessary skills, apply with your updated resume.
