Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Automation QA Engineer to establish and lead the implementation of Playwright automation. The role involves building the automation framework from the ground up, converting existing manual test cases into automated tests, and developing reliable UI and API automation for web applications. This role requires strong programming skills, practical framework design, and maintainable automation practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Playwright Framework and Automation
• Design and build a Playwright automation framework from scratch, including project structure, configuration, reusable utilities, fixtures, test data handling, and reporting.
• Establish automation standards and best practices so tests are readable, reliable, maintainable, and easy for the team to extend.
• Convert existing manual test cases into maintainable Playwright automated scripts and identify suitable scenarios for regression automation.
• Develop and maintain web UI automation for user interactions, navigation, form validation, and end-to-end business workflows.
• Develop API automation using Playwright to validate endpoints, request and response payloads, status codes, authentication, and error handling.
• Use robust locator strategies, assertions, waits, and debugging techniques to create stable tests and reduce flaky execution.
• Configure test data, environment settings, reusable fixtures, and reporting to support reliable execution across test environments.
• Review automated test results, investigate root causes, document defects with clear reproduction steps, and retest fixes.
• Integrate automated test execution into CI/CD pipelines where applicable and communicate execution results and quality risks.
• Collaborate with developers and QA team members to clarify application behaviour, review testability, and improve test coverage.

Requirements

• Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and the ability to build an automation framework from the ground up.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably TypeScript or JavaScript, with the ability to write, debug, and maintain reusable code.
• Practical experience in both web UI automation and API testing using Playwright.
• Experience converting manual test cases and acceptance criteria into automated tests.
• Good understanding of locators, assertions, fixtures, hooks, test data management, asynchronous operations, debugging, and automation reporting.
• Understanding of functional and regression testing, test design, defect lifecycle, and quality assurance practices.
• Working understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and the purpose of System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Good to Have

• Experience in integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions.
• Familiarity with Git and version control practices, including branching and pull requests.
• Basic SQL knowledge for database queries and backend data validation.
• Familiarity with API testing tools such as Postman.
• Exposure to AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code or similar, including prompt engineering skills to support Playwright test generation, debugging, and automation improvement.
