Role Summary

We are looking for an experienced Data Modeler to support a large-scale Telecom BSS transformation program. The role will be responsible for defining and governing enterprise, logical, and physical data models across legacy and target BSS platforms, with strong understanding of Amdocs and/or Whale Cloud ecosystems.

The Data Modeler will work closely with business, solution architecture, BSS application, integration, data migration, reporting, and testing teams to ensure consistent interpretation and movement of customer, product, account, billing, order, service, and related business data throughout the transformation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain conceptual, logical and physical data models for the BSS transformation.
• Analyze existing Amdocs and Whale Cloud data structures and establish mappings between source, intermediate and target models.
• Define canonical/business data models covering key telecom domains such as:
• Customer and Party
• Account
• Product and Offer
• Subscription
• Service
• Order
• Billing and Charging
• Payments
• Usage
• Perform source-to-target data mapping and support legacy data migration and reconciliation.
• Identify data-model gaps, redundancies, dependencies and transformation requirements between legacy and target BSS platforms.
• Work with solution and integration architects to ensure data models support APIs, integration, event-based interfaces and downstream consumption.
• Define and maintain data entities, attributes, relationships, keys, reference data and business definitions.
• Collaborate with business SMEs to translate business requirements into scalable data structures.
• Support migration teams with transformation rules, mapping specifications, data-quality requirements and reconciliation criteria.
• Partner with reporting and analytics teams to ensure transformed BSS data can support operational and analytical requirements.
• Establish and enforce data modelling standards, naming conventions, metadata and data governance principles.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure consistency across multiple transformation workstreams.
• Support impact analysis for changes to BSS products, customer journeys, billing processes and interfaces.

Mandatory Skills

• Strong experience in Telecom BSS data modelling.
• Hands-on understanding of Amdocs and/or Whale Cloud BSS platforms and associated data structures.
• Strong knowledge of telecom concepts across Customer, Product, Order, Service, Billing and Charging domains.
• Experience creating conceptual, logical and physical data models.
• Strong capability in source-to-target mapping and legacy data transformation.
• Good SQL skills for data profiling, validation and model analysis.
• Experience with data modelling tools such as ERwin, ER/Studio, SAP PowerDesigner or equivalent.
• Understanding of relational databases, canonical models, APIs and integration patterns.
• Experience working with data migration, ETL/integration and data-quality teams.
• Ability to work with complex legacy data structures and translate them into simplified target-state models.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a major BSS modernization or migration program, particularly Amdocs-to-Whale Cloud, Whale Cloud-to-Amdocs, or multi-platform BSS transformation.
• Knowledge of TM Forum SID / Open APIs and telecom information modelling concepts.
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms and modern data architecture.
• Understanding of CRM, Order Management, Product Catalog, Billing and Charging integration.
• Exposure to migration reconciliation, data lineage and metadata management.
• Experience working across business, architecture, application and data teams in a large transformation.
