Job Description

The Senior Automation Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining automated test frameworks and test suites for Maybank's NextGen Digital Banking Programme. The role will drive test automation across web, mobile, API, and integration layers, improving test coverage, execution efficiency, and software quality throughout the delivery lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test frameworks using Katalon Studio and Playwright.
• Create and execute automated functional, regression, smoke, integration, and API test suites.
• Implement service virtualisation and mock services using WireMock to support testing of dependent systems and third-party integrations.
• Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and faster release cycles.
• Analyse business and technical requirements and translate them into reusable automation scripts.
• Support test data preparation, environment validation, and automated test execution reporting.
• Work closely with business analysts, developers, test leads, and architects to ensure comprehensive test coverage.
• Participate in defect triage and root cause analysis to improve application quality.
• Maintain automation standards, coding best practices, and framework documentation.
• Continuously identify opportunities to increase automation coverage and optimise execution efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in Test Automation and Quality Engineering.
• Hands-on experience with Katalon Studio, Playwright, and WireMock.
• Strong experience in Web UI, API, and Integration Test Automation.
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Groovy.
• Experience with REST API testing tools and frameworks.
• Familiarity with CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitLab, or GitHub Actions.
• Knowledge of test framework design, automation best practices, and version control systems.
• Experience working in Agile and DevOps environments.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Banking Experience

• Experience in digital banking, internet banking, mobile banking, payments, or financial services applications.
• Exposure to testing complex enterprise integrations, payment gateways, middleware, and customer-facing digital channels.
