Star Alliance is the world’s largest airline alliance.
Established in 1997 as the first truly global airline alliance, Star Alliance was founded on a customer value proposition of global reach, worldwide recognition, and seamless service. Today, guided by a vision for a world effortlessly connected, Star Alliance enriches customer journeys and reinforces loyalty by creating tailored solutions that empower member airlines beyond their individual capabilities. The Star Alliance office in Singapore coordinates the global activities of the Alliance, including managing joint projects on behalf of its 26 Members.
Based in Singapore, the Senior Lead / Principal, Corporate Development & Marketing will report to the Senior Director, Corporate Development & Marketing.
This is a senior, judgement-led role at the strategic core of Corporate Development & Marketing. Rather than executing a fixed reporting brief, the Principal actively shapes what the Alliance measures, surfaces the blind spots existing reporting misses, and acts as the team's trusted advisor to other workstreams and Member airlines on data-driven decisions. The role also carries a governance core of recurring, business-as-usual responsibilities, similar in shape and proportion to the Senior Director's own portfolio.
Job Description
Strategic Analysis & Insight
- Own the strategic direction of NPS and member-satisfaction dashboard reporting, defining what the Alliance measures and why, rather than maintaining a fixed reporting set
- Proactively identify blind spots in current measurement and reporting coverage, running structured audits across member-facing and internal data sets to surface gaps before they become issues
- Apply structured analytical methods — trend analysis, segmentation, root-cause analysis — across Alliance data sets such as NPS, StarQuest and Member survey data to produce findings that go beyond surface-level reporting
- Lead the data strategy input into hub modernisation initiatives, partnering with Corporate Planning and IT on the structure, governance and long-term direction of new systems and data sources
- Translate ambiguous or emerging business questions from the Senior Director and Member airlines into a structured analytical approach, scoping what data is needed, where it lives, and how findings should be validated
- Design and maintain a forward-looking view of the Alliance's reporting and measurement roadmap, flagging where current tools, data sources or definitions will not scale with upcoming initiatives
Advisory & Governance
- Build and run a cross-team data advisory practice, acting as the Alliance's go-to resource for other Corporate Development & Marketing workstreams and Member teams needing rigorous data interpretation
- Represent Corporate Development & Marketing on the Market Research Virtual Expert Community (VEC), shaping the Alliance's research agenda and fielding Member questions on methodology and findings
- Contribute to Alliance-wide governance processes and working groups where data strategy or analytical rigor is required
- Review and quality-check significant data-driven recommendations going to Member airlines or senior Alliance stakeholders before they are finalised
- Stay current on emerging data, analytics and AI tooling relevant to the Alliance's work, and recommend where new approaches could improve the team's advisory output
Team & Resourcing
- Contribute a share of time to the team's shared project pool, flexing to support peak workload and cross-cutting initiatives across Corporate Development & Marketing
- Mentor and provide analytical guidance to more junior members of the team on data interpretation and the Alliance's reporting standards
- Act as a backstop for the team's day-to-day dashboard and reporting operations, protecting BAU commitments to Members during periods of heavier project workload
Your Profile
- Prior experience in the aviation or airline alliance industry is required for this role
- 10 years of relevant work experience in business intelligence, strategy, data analytics or corporate development, including experience advising senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work independently on ambiguous, judgement-led analysis, identifying what should be measured rather than only executing a defined reporting brief
- Strong proficiency with dashboard and BI tooling (e.g. Power BI, Tableau, or similar) and a track record of shaping data strategy, not only building reports
- Experience advising or consulting across teams, with the credibility and communication skills to influence stakeholders who do not report to you
- A track record of identifying gaps or blind spots in existing measurement frameworks and taking the initiative to close them
- Comfortable balancing strategic, project-based work with a core of recurring governance and advisory responsibilities
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with sound judgement on prioritisation under ambiguity
- Proactive and self-motivated individual with strong written and verbal communication skills, able to present complex findings clearly to non-technical audiences
- Cross cultural work experience, with exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills
- High level of proficiency in English is essential, as it is the sole language used for communication with Star Alliance member airlines and other external stakeholders
This is a unique opportunity for a highly skilled professional to apply their talent, creativity and dedication to a global team focused on delivering value to frequent international travelers who travel on our Members.
