Legal Counsel – Technology & Commercial Contracts (Contract)

We're looking for a Legal Counsel (5+ PQE) to join a leading multinational's in-house commercial legal team in Malaysia on a contract basis.

This role offers the opportunity to advise on complex, multi-country technology and commercial contracts, working with experienced colleagues and cross-functional stakeholders in an international, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Reviewing, drafting and negotiating multi-country technology and commercial contracts, including amendments and renewals
• Advising on software, SaaS, licensing, outsourcing, hardware, support and maintenance, and general goods and services agreements
• Conducting document reviews and due diligence for technology and commercial transactions
• Identifying legal and commercial risks and providing practical, risk-based solutions to stakeholders
• Providing day-to-day legal support to business and procurement teams, and managing external counsel where appointed
• Contributing to playbooks, templates and process improvements, and providing training to colleagues

Requirements

• Qualified lawyer in Malaysia with 5+ years' post-qualification experience (in-house or private practice)
• Strong knowledge of technology and commercial contracting, including IP, data protection and related regulatory considerations
• Experience drafting and negotiating technology procurement and commercial agreements (software, SaaS, cloud, data, outsourcing), ideally in a large corporate or multinational
• Experience with legal due diligence and negotiating with vendors and suppliers is advantageous
• Experience working across multiple jurisdictions is a plus
• Strong commercial judgement, stakeholder management and communication skills
• Must be currently based in Malaysia
