Responsibilities

I'm partnering with an exciting early-stage quantitative trading firm in Singapore that's building a next-generation research and trading platform.

The firm is looking for a talented, hands-on Software Engineer / Platform Engineer to help design, build and scale the technology underpinning its quantitative research and trading activities.

This is a unique opportunity to join a growing trading firm at an early stage, work directly with the founder and quantitative researchers, and take genuine ownership of both software development and the infrastructure supporting it.

Unlike traditional infrastructure or DevOps positions, the majority of this role focuses on software engineering , with additional responsibility for cloud compute, deployment, performance and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Engineering & Quantitative Research Infrastructure:

  • Design and develop research and trading infrastructure, including backtesting frameworks, simulation tools and market data services.
  • Build robust data ingestion, processing and normalisation pipelines to support quantitative research.
  • Work closely with quantitative researchers to take models from prototype into production.
  • Develop and optimise performance-critical applications using Python and C++ , with potential exposure to CUDA.
  • Build internal developer tools and leverage modern AI coding assistants to accelerate engineering workflows.
  • Contribute to software architecture, testing, code quality and engineering best practices.

Cloud Infrastructure & Platform Engineering:

  • Build and manage cloud-based research infrastructure, including Linux compute environments, GPU instances and storage.
  • Manage infrastructure across AWS, GCP or Azure , including compute resources, networking and cost optimisation.
  • Automate provisioning and deployments using technologies such as Terraform, Ansible and containers .
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, logging and alerting.
  • Optimise Linux environments for performance, reliability and security.
  • Support research workloads involving high-performance computing, GPU resources and job scheduling.

What We're Looking For
  • 3+ years of professional software engineering experience , with strong hands-on development skills.
  • Strong programming experience in Python , alongside working knowledge of C++ (flexible).
  • Solid computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, operating systems, memory management and concurrency.
  • Practical experience working with Linux , including shell scripting, processes, filesystems and networking fundamentals.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS, GCP or Azure , alongside exposure to CI/CD, containers, infrastructure-as-code or HPC/GPU environments.
  • Familiarity with modern AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, Cursor or GitHub Copilot .
  • Strong problem-solving skills, engineering judgement and the ability to work independently in a small, collaborative team.

Previous financial services experience is not essential. We're equally interested in strong software engineers from technology companies, startups, HPC environments or other technically demanding industries.
