JOB DESCRIPTION

Position: Accountant, Singapore

Reporting to: Managing Director, Singapore


Position Summary

Hands-on Accountant to own the full finance and administration function for our Singapore freight-forwarding operation. This is a lean, single-person role in a small office. You will maintain the complete set of accounts, ensure Singapore statutory compliance, manage day-to-day financial operations, and support general office administration. You will work closely with the local Managing Director and coordinate with the regional finance team in Hong Kong.


This role suits a self-sufficient professional comfortable wearing both finance and administrative hats with minimal supervision.


Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the full set of accounts, general ledger integrity, month-end/year-end closing, reconciliations, and monthly management reporting.

• Process AP/AR (invoices, payments, collections, statement reconciliations) and support credit control.

• Monitor cash positions, prepare bank reconciliations, and assist with cash-flow forecasting.

• Ensure full compliance with Singapore GST, tax, and statutory requirements; prepare GST returns and coordinate audits.

• Liaise with the Hong Kong regional team on intercompany transactions and centralized activities.

• Oversee office administration (facilities, supplies, vendors)

• Assist the Managing Director with operational and administrative matters.


Systems

Currently using QuickBooks; the business will transition to CargoWise and SAP Business One. Experience with any of these (or similar mid-market ERP/accounting systems) is an advantage; willingness to learn the new platforms is essential.


Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Accounting or related field.

• 3 to 5 years’ experience managing a full set of accounts independently.

• Solid knowledge of Singapore GST, taxation, and statutory reporting.

• Experience in freight forwarding, logistics, shipping, or transportation is highly desirable.

• Prior experience in a small sized business

• Strong Excel skills and proficiency with accounting systems and/or TMS.
