Environmental Scientist
A hands-on environmental testing role
IAQ Consultants specialises in indoor environmental testing and consultancy, covering indoor air quality assessments, environmental monitoring, mould and microbial testing, formaldehyde testing, water quality testing, and building health assessments. The Environmental Scientist will support these activities through field sampling, laboratory-related work, data interpretation and preparation of technical findings.
Responsibilities
- Plan and carry out environmental sampling and monitoring activities at client sites.
- Conduct assessments of indoor environmental conditions and collect relevant field data.
- Handle measurements relating to parameters such as particulate matter, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde, TVOCs, temperature and humidity.
- Assist with mould, microbial and other environmental investigations where required.
- Review laboratory and field results to identify unusual readings, trends or potential environmental concerns.
- Help investigate possible sources and contributing factors when indoor environmental issues are reported.
- Prepare technical reports, test summaries, sampling records and other project documentation.
- Support environmental testing programmes for offices, commercial buildings, residential properties and other facilities.
- Participate in building health checks and indoor air quality audits in accordance with applicable Singapore requirements.
- Assist with water quality testing and related environmental assessment work when assigned.
- Communicate technical observations and findings to project teams and clients in a clear manner.
- Maintain proper records of samples, measurements, equipment and site observations.
- Follow established testing procedures and laboratory quality requirements.
Qualifications & Practical Skills
- Degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience in environmental testing, laboratory work, air quality, environmental monitoring or consultancy would be useful.
- Comfortable conducting site-based sampling and working with testing equipment.
- Able to analyse scientific information and present findings in a structured way.
- Good technical writing and documentation skills.
- Careful when handling samples, measurements and environmental data.
- Familiarity with indoor air quality parameters, microbiological testing, mould assessment or environmental standards is an advantage.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a technical team.
- Willing to travel to client locations for inspections, testing and field assignments when required.
The Day-to-Day Mix
The position combines fieldwork with analytical and reporting responsibilities. Some assignments will involve visiting a site to collect samples or take measurements, while other days may focus on reviewing results, preparing reports or supporting an environmental investigation. Attention to detail and a methodical approach to scientific work are important for this position.
Pay: $4,200.00 - $5,500.00 per month
