Job Description:
Responsible for keeping an organization’s database environments secure, stable, high-performing, and available for business-critical applications.
Able to lead the design, administration, optimization, and support of enterprise database platforms while working closely with infrastructure, applications, security, and business teams.
Manage, maintain, and support enterprise database systems in production, test, and development environments
Administer database platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or other relevant technologies
Monitor database health, performance, storage, availability, and capacity
Perform database installation, configuration, patching, upgrades, and migration activities
Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, outages, and performance issues
Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures to protect business data
Optimise SQL queries, indexing, and overall database performance
Ensure database security, access control, encryption, and compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements
Support high availability solutions such as clustering, replication, failover, and standby environments
Work with application and infrastructure teams to support system integration, deployments, and release activities
Create and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and runbooks
Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior DB administrators and project teams
Participate in on-call support, incident response, and problem management as required
