Headquartered in Tokyo, with offices in Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur, we combine service design, UX, visual design, and engineering to deliver digital products and services for leading companies.

Our Kuala Lumpur office is growing, and we are looking for a Pre-Sales Engineer to help establish and grow our technical consulting and AI solutions business in Malaysia.

This is a client-facing, business-oriented technical role. You will work closely with clients to understand their business challenges, identify opportunities for AI adoption and digital transformation, and translate business needs into practical technical solutions.

Your primary focus will be on solution consulting and pre-sales, particularly around AI adoption and business process automation. Once an opportunity becomes a project, you will help validate the solution through prototyping, refine requirements, align technical specifications, and oversee delivery in collaboration with our engineering teams and development partners.

You will work closely with our Tokyo headquarters, Asian offices, and development partners in Indonesia, playing a key role in connecting business needs with technical execution.

・Lead technical pre-sales and solution consulting: Work with clients to understand their business challenges, identify opportunities for AI adoption and digital transformation, and propose practical technical solutions.

・Design AI-powered solutions: Explore how generative AI, LLM APIs, workflow automation, and other technologies can improve business processes, products, and operations.

・Build prototypes and validate solutions: Once an opportunity moves forward, develop proof-of-concepts and frontend prototypes to validate technical feasibility, demonstrate value, and support client decision-making.

・Translate business needs into technical requirements: Define requirements, scope, system architecture, technology choices, and effort estimates in collaboration with clients and internal teams.

・Manage technical specifications and delivery: Maintain alignment between business requirements and technical implementation, establish checkpoints, review deliverables, and manage changes to ensure quality and consistency.

・Lead development partners: Coordinate with our development partner, Plabs, in Indonesia, providing clear technical direction, defining milestones and review checkpoints, and maintaining control over scope, quality, and delivery.

・Contribute to frontend development: Use your hands-on experience with modern frontend technologies to build prototypes, validate technical approaches, and address key frontend challenges when needed.

・Support business development: Participate in client meetings, develop technical proposals, explain solution value to non-technical stakeholders, and help turn opportunities into projects.

・Collaborate across teams: Work closely with UX designers, visual designers, engineers, and AI specialists across Japan and Southeast Asia to deliver solutions that balance business value, user experience, and technical feasibility.

・Travel when needed: Visit Japan or other offices for client meetings, project collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

・5+ years of experience in web or app development, with at least 2 years in a technical lead, solution consulting, pre-sales, or client-facing technical role.

・Strong frontend development skills, particularly with TypeScript and React or Vue.js, including experience building applications or projects from scratch.

・Experience working directly with clients or business stakeholders to understand business needs, define requirements, propose technical solutions, and estimate effort.

・Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts and trade-offs to non-engineers and align expectations across business and technical teams.

・Professional Japanese communication skills (conversational or above) and professional English proficiency, enabling effective communication with Japanese clients and international teams.

・Experience managing technical delivery, including defining scope, coordinating developers or external partners, reviewing deliverables, and maintaining quality.

・Comfortable working in an onsite environment in Kuala Lumpur and commuting to the office.

・Hands-on experience implementing generative AI solutions, including LLM APIs, AI-powered applications, AI coding tools, or business workflow automation.

・Experience in pre-sales engineering, solution consulting, technical account management, or business development for technology solutions.

・Knowledge of backend development, cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure), and API design.

・Experience leading offshore development teams or managing external development partners.

・Experience working with Japanese companies or in a Japanese business environment.

・Experience translating proof-of-concepts into production-ready solutions.

・Willingness to travel to Japan and other offices when required.

・You enjoy working with clients and identifying business opportunities as much as solving technical problems.

・You can translate ambiguous business challenges into clear technical solutions and actionable implementation plans.

・You are comfortable balancing business priorities, technical feasibility, scope, and delivery quality.

・You can move between business discussions, technical design, prototyping, and delivery management as a project evolves.

・You enjoy building new capabilities from the ground up and are comfortable working in a small, fast-moving team.

・You can work independently while coordinating effectively with distributed teams and external development partners.

・Build a new business capability: Play a key role in establishing our technical consulting and AI solutions business in Malaysia.

・Work at the intersection of business and technology: Engage directly with clients and decision-makers, shaping solutions from the earliest stages rather than simply executing predefined requirements.

・Turn AI opportunities into real solutions: Help clients move beyond AI experimentation by translating business challenges into practical, implementable solutions.

・Bridge strategy and execution: Take ownership from initial client discussions and solution design through prototyping, technical alignment, and delivery.

・Collaborate across Asia: Work with designers, engineers, and AI specialists across Japan and Southeast Asia.

・Shape how we work: Help define our technical consulting approach, delivery processes, and collaboration model with development partners as the business grows.
