Responsibilities

About the role :

On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Hydrotest Supervisor to oversee and coordinate hydrostatic pressure testing activities for piping systems and related equipment.The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising hydrotest operations, ensuring compliance with approved testing procedures, engineering specifications, quality standards and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) requirements.


Key Responsibilities

Hydrotest Operations & Supervision

  1. Plan, coordinate and supervise hydrostatic pressure testing activities at project sites.
  2. Oversee test preparation, system isolation, filling, pressurisation, pressure holding, depressurisation and reinstatement activities.
  3. Ensure testing is performed according to approved procedures, specifications and project requirements.
  4. Monitor testing activities to ensure safe and timely execution.

Technical & Quality Compliance

  1. Review hydrotest packages, piping drawings, P&IDs and testing procedures before execution.
  2. Verify test boundaries, pressure requirements, calibrated instruments and equipment readiness.
  3. Coordinate with QA/QC inspectors and engineering teams for test inspection, witnessing and acceptance.
  4. Maintain accurate testing records, inspection reports and completion documentation.

Safety & Risk Management

  1. Ensure strict compliance with HSE requirements and high-pressure testing safety procedures.
  2. Conduct toolbox meetings, risk assessments and pre-test safety briefings.
  3. Verify the implementation of permit-to-work (PTW), exclusion zones and pressure testing safety controls.
  4. Identify potential hazards and implement appropriate preventive measures.

Team & Site Coordination

  1. Supervise hydrotest technicians, operators and supporting site personnel.
  2. Coordinate manpower, testing equipment, materials and daily work schedules.
  3. Liaise with project engineers, construction teams, QA/QC personnel and client representatives.
  4. Monitor daily progress and report operational issues to project management.


Job Requirements

Education

  • Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • Candidates with equivalent technical qualifications and substantial relevant experience may be considered.

Work Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in hydrostatic testing, piping construction, mechanical works or related industrial projects (proposed screening benchmark).
  • Proven hands-on experience supervising hydrotest activities.
  • Experience in Oil & Gas, petrochemical, refinery or industrial construction projects is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of hydrostatic pressure testing procedures and equipment.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, isometric drawings and hydrotest documentation.
  • Familiarity with pressure gauges, testing pumps, pressure monitoring and equipment calibration.
  • Understanding of applicable ASME/API standards and project specifications.
  • Knowledge of PTW systems, risk assessments and high-pressure testing safety requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant HSE or site safety training.
  • Experience with hydrotest activities on large-scale piping or industrial projects.
  • Previous experience working with contractors, subcontractors or multinational project teams.
