About the role

Paragon Car Carpets & Components Sdn. Bhd. is an automotive interior component manufacturer supplying Tier-1 solutions to Malaysia's leading automotive brands, including Proton and Perodua. We are seeking a Senior Upholstery Specialist & Production Sewing Supervisor to take charge of our sewing floor operations while establishing and leading our automotive seat upholstery technical capabilities. This role combines hands-on master craftsmanship in automotive trimming with shop-floor supervision—setting clear production standards, driving output targets, optimizing line balance, and minimizing overtime.

Key responsibilities

• Design, pattern, cut, and manufacture leather, vinyl, and microfiber covers for automotive seats, headrests, armrests, and console assemblies.
• Develop patterns and templates for interior trim components, including door panels, roof linings/headliners, sunvisors, pillar trims, car floor mats, and edge-bound floor carpets.
• Execute skilled single-needle and twin-needle machine sewing, piping, topstitching, and hand-sewing (including leather-wrapped steering wheels and custom trim).
• Build prototypes and complete trim sets for OEM and aftermarket custom interior programs according to technical drawings and specifications.
• Establish standard operating sheets (SOS) and pattern libraries for future production scaling.
• Supervise daily operations across the floor mat and carpet sewing lines, managing line allocation and machine assignment.
• Establish standard cycle times, daily operator output benchmarks (KPIs), and productivity targets to reduce bottlenecks and eliminate unnecessary overtime.
• Monitor work-in-progress (WIP), clear line bottlenecks, and keep all sewing stations moving at a steady pace.
• Inspect in-process and finished goods to ensure stitch tension, seam alignment, margin consistency, and cosmetic finish meet OEM specifications.
• Train, upskill, and guide existing and new production operators on machine operation, proper handling of heavy materials, and defect prevention.

About you

• Minimum 5+ years of practical experience in automotive trimming, car seat upholstery (cushion), or high-end industrial sewing/trim assembly.
• Master-level proficiency with industrial single-needle and twin-needle walking foot sewing machines.
• Demonstrated skill in pattern drafting, template cutting, material skimming/preparation, and hand-stitching.
• Comprehensive hands-on experience in dismantling, wrapping, and assembling full vehicle interior assemblies (seats, door trims, consoles, headliners, and carpets).
• Prior background as a Line Leader, Sewing Supervisor, or Master Trimmer within a manufacturing or contract upholstery environment.
• Proven ability to set output quotas, assess operator cycle times, and manage production schedules.
• Good working proficiency in Bahasa Malaysia and basic/conversational English.
• Strong eye for detail, firm leadership on the production floor, high accountability, and the drive to build a newly formed upholstery line from the ground up.
