Job Description

Requirements

  • Minimum Vocational or equivalent qualification; welding certification is an advantage.

  • Experience in SMAW welding, steel fabrication, or manufacturing is preferred.

  • Ability to read basic technical drawings and welding specifications.

  • Knowledge of welding safety, equipment operation, and quality requirements.

  • Ability to perform welding tasks accurately and efficiently.

  • Willingness to work overtime when required.

  • Relevant SMAW welding certification or welder qualification test is preferred.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform SMAW (stick welding) on steel plates, structural steel, reinforcement cages, and metal components.

  2. Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, and work instructions.

  3. Prepare, clean, align, and fit metal components before welding.

  4. Select appropriate welding electrodes, current settings, and welding techniques according to specifications.

  5. Inspect completed welds to ensure quality, strength, and compliance with required standards.

  6. Identify and repair welding defects, including cracks, porosity, and incomplete fusion.

  7. Operate and maintain welding machines, tools, and equipment in good working condition.

  8. Comply with workplace safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and fire prevention measures.

  9. Maintain a clean and organized working area.

  10. Perform other production-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.
