About Chamrun Digital

Chamrun Digital is a Malaysia-based digital marketing and technology agency delivering AI and web projects for government and institutional clients. We are looking for a hands-on technical lead who owns projects from client requirements to go-live. You will build demos and prototypes yourself, work with freelancers and vendors on the larger builds, and run each project as its project manager.

About the role

You are the technical owner and project manager for our AI and digital (Web) projects. You understand how AI systems work end to end (LLMs, RAG, agents and automation) and can build working demos with tools like n8n. You can fix issues as they come up and explain everything clearly to clients. You report to the CEO.

What you'll do

Hands-on delivery

• Build small working demos, proofs of concept and prototypes for client presentations, using n8n,Make or smiliar similar LLM APIs, RAG pipelines and web tools.
• Troubleshoot and fix issues across workflows, integrations, APIs and deployments, so small problems don't wait for a vendor.
• Architecture and AI deliverables from vendors and freelancers: test retrieval accuracy, check for hallucinations, review prompts and evaluation results, and challenge their claims.
• Step in to take over or patch work when a vendor falls short.

Project ownership and management

• Own each project end to end: plan, scope, timeline, budget, risks, resourcing and quality.
• Break work into milestones and sprints, assign tasks, track progress and keep the team on schedule.
• Manage scope changes and change requests without blowing budget or timeline.
• Report progress, risks and budget status regularly to the CEO and the client.

Technical ownership

• Turn client requirements into clear technical briefs, architecture and acceptance criteria.
• Design end-to-end AI workflows (data sources, RAG pipelines, LLM integration, agent logic, user interface) and document them.
• Own solution architecture, technology choices and cloud hosting.
• Ensure data privacy (PDPA), security and responsible AI practices, including government hosting and compliance requirements.
• Keep documentation, repositories and cloud accounts organised and under company control.

Vendors and clients

• Select, brief and manage freelancers and vendors: review quotes, set milestones, acceptance criteria and quality gates, and hold them to deadlines.
• Lead client meetings, demos and progress updates as the main technical contact.
• Estimate effort, timelines and costs (including AI usage, hosting and vector storage), and support proposals and statements of work.

What we're looking for

Experience

• 6+ years in software, including at least 3-4 years of hands-on software engineering(Web & AI workflow) and experience leading delivery or projects.
• Hands-on experience building workflow automations with n8n (or similar, such as Make or Zapier) and connecting them to APIs, databases and LLMs.
• Experience building or leading at least one production RAG or LLM-based system, not only prototypes.
• Experience with lang chain and langgraph 
• Proven record of managing projects end to end and delivering on time and on budget, including managing external vendors or freelancers.
• Confident client-facing skills: requirements gathering, live demos, managing expectations and handling change requests. Government, GLC or enterprise experience preferred.

AI knowledge

• LLM fundamentals: prompts, context windows, tokens and cost, hallucination, and model selection and trade-offs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, open-source).
• RAG: document ingestion and chunking, embeddings, vector databases, retrieval and re-ranking, grounding answers in source documents, and measuring answer quality.
• AI workflows and agents: multi-step orchestration, tool and API calling, and knowing when an agent is the wrong solution.
• Evaluation: test sets, accuracy and hallucination checks, human review, production monitoring, and defining "good enough" with the client.

Technical foundation

• Working skills in at least one scripting or programming language (Python or JavaScript/Node preferred), enough to debug, write small components and read vendor code.
• Solid grasp of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP), APIs, databases and security fundamentals.
• Understanding of PDPA, data residency, risks of sending data to external AI APIs, and typical government security requirements.

Project management

• Comfortable with planning tools and methods (Agile/Scrum, Jira, Trello, Notion or similar), and with tracking budget, timeline and risks.

Soft skills

• Clear communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Practical, problem-solving mindset and ownership of outcomes.

Nice to have

• Experience with OpenAI, Azure OpenAI or similar enterprise AI platforms.
• Familiarity with government procurement and project reporting.
• Bahasa Malaysia fluency.
• PMP, Scrum or cloud certifications.
