Business Development Officer – SE Asia

The primary purpose of this role is to work as a member of the Global Recruitment Team based in Malaysia reporting directly to the Associate Head of International Recruitment and taking responsibility for:

· Partnership: Supporting current and prospective partnerships in the region with strategic initiatives. This would include visits to partners across South East Asia for partnership development and for promotion of opportunities for prospective students (80%)

· Recruitment: Supporting recruitment activities such as student engagement, agent support and conversion activity delivery where required on an ad hoc basis. (20%)

Job Summary

The Business Development Officer will play a pivotal role in advancing the University’s international recruitment objectives and strengthening its profile with key external partners across South East Asia. The postholder will provide strategic leadership for partnership development and current partners relationship management within the region.

The postholder will take responsibility for building and maintaining the University’s relationships with overseas embassies, scholarship providers, and government stakeholders based in the region, ensuring these partnerships support both direct recruitment and the development of future international opportunities, including transnational education.

The role will also act as a coordination hub for high-profile international engagement. Working closely with the Global Partnerships Division, External Relations, and the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, the postholder will oversee the organisation of inward visits and delegations, support outward missions to priority markets, and ensure that senior staff are fully briefed and supported. Through this dual focus on partnerships and stakeholder engagement, the role will make a significant contribution to the University’s global strategy and international reputation.
