Works with finance teams and business leaders to maintain sound accounting practices, meet reporting deadlines, and provide reliable information for planning and decision-making. Scope varies by role: a Corporate Controller may oversee accounting across the company; a Financial Controller may lead finance and control activities for a business unit or entity; and a Group Controller typically oversees consolidated reporting across multiple entities or regions.

Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. Reviews general ledger activity, reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, provisions, fixed assets, intercompany balances, and consolidation schedules. Ensures financial statements and management reports are prepared in accordance with applicable accounting standards and company policies. Investigates material variances or unusual transactions and works with teams to resolve reporting issues.

Develops and maintains internal controls, accounting policies, procedures, and reporting standards. Coordinates external audits, statutory reporting, tax-related schedules, and internal audit requests, working with advisers and local finance teams as needed. For group roles, oversees consolidation, intercompany eliminations, currency translation, and consistency of reporting across subsidiaries. Monitors changes in accounting requirements and coordinates updates with relevant specialists.

Provides financial guidance to senior leaders and business teams by explaining results, risks, control issues, and operational implications. Leads and develops accounting staff, manages finance resources, and identifies opportunities to improve processes, systems, and reporting efficiency. May oversee accounting system implementations, shared service arrangements, policy harmonization, and finance transformation initiatives.
