THE ROLE

We are looking for a hands-on Retail Operations Manager to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our first store. You will build strong routines, lead a small team, look after our products and suppliers, and help turn FIGGS into a neighbourhood favourite. This is a practical, customer-facing role: you should be equally comfortable on the shop floor, receiving deliveries and reviewing performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead daily store operations, opening and closing procedures, service standards and store presentation.
• Recruit, train, roster and motivate retail staff; create a positive, accountable team culture.
• Manage stock ordering, receiving, rotation, replenishment, inventory accuracy and shrinkage.
• Coordinate with local and overseas suppliers, track deliveries and maintain product availability.
• Monitor sales, gross margins, labour costs, wastage and other key store metrics.
• Maintain excellent fresh produce, chilled goods and deli merchandising standards.
• Oversee hygiene, food handling, temperature controls and applicable Singapore Food Agency requirements.
• Resolve customer issues thoughtfully and build relationships with regular shoppers.
• Help establish practical operating procedures and improve them as the business grows.
• Support product launches, seasonal ranges, promotions and future business development.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Experience supervising or managing a retail, grocery, deli, specialty food or hospitality operation.
• Strong organisational skills and confidence leading a small team.
• Commercial awareness, including stock management, margins and waste control.
• Genuine enthusiasm for food, produce and interesting independent brands.
• A proactive, resourceful approach and willingness to work hands-on.
• Clear communication and comfort using POS, spreadsheets and basic reporting tools.
• Knowledge of Singapore food retail and food-safety practices is an advantage.
