QUANTITY SURVEYOR (QS)

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

PRE-CONTRACT

  • Review tender documents, drawings and specifications and prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQ).
  • Perform quantity take-off and measurement based on tender and drawings.
  • Prepare cost estimates, quotations and tender submissions, including materials, fabrication, labour, installation and subcontractor works.
  • Request, evaluate and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Attend tender interviews and clarification meetings, and revise tender submissions when necessary.

POST-CONTRACT

  • Prepare material take-off and material order lists based on project requirements
  • Handle the sourcing and purchasing of all project-related materials, hardware, accessories and consumables, including obtaining quotations, price comparison, negotiation and coordination with suppliers.
  • Compare quotations from subcontractor and prepare for award.
  • Request and prepare material sample submission and alternative proposals when required.
  • Prepare and submit main progress claims and verify subcontractor claims.
  • Set budgets for payments, inventory needs, and materials.
  • Track changes between tender, construction and shop drawings and prepare Variation Order (VO) measurements, costing and supporting documents.
  • Monitor material orders and delivery status according to project requirements.
  • Maintain proper project documentation, including claims, VO, costing and progress records.
  • Conduct site visits to take/verify measurements and monitor work progress.
  • Liaise with project managers, site managers, engineers and other relevant parties throughout the project.
  • Prepare, negotiate and close final accounts upon project completion.
  • Perform any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the Superior.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Diploma/Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or related field.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of relevant working experience in Quantity Surveying.
  • Experience in metal fabrication, stainless steel, architectural metal and/or structural steel works is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; knowledge of AutoCAD or other relevant software.
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple projects/tasks.
  • Willing to travel to project sites when required.
