About the Team:

Our Infrastructure team provides the end-to-end managed services and solutions for the entire group’s Internet infrastructure alongside running business applications. We excel in building the architecture, providing solutions, deployment and operations of data centers, connectivity, cloud, networking, servers, system, storage, software, platforms and security. We are a proud provider of high-quality and stable running business applications and services to our business units.

As a Data Center Mechanical Engineer under the Data Center Engineering team, you will work with a team of engineers and technologists to support the design, review, delivery and operation of reliable and energy-efficient data center mechanical and cooling infrastructure. This role focuses on cooling system design verification, technical assessment of colocation solutions, cooling optimisation, and the implementation of advanced cooling technologies, including liquid cooling. You will also participate in testing and commissioning activities to verify system performance, operational readiness and compliance with agreed technical specifications and operational requirements. You will have opportunities to support broader data center infrastructure projects, gaining exposure to various stages of design, procurement, implementation, commissioning and operational handover.

Job Description:

  • Support the development and review of mechanical design criteria, calculations, drawings, specifications, equipment schedules and technical submissions for data center projects.
  • Review data center cooling systems, including chilled-water plants, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, FWUs, CRAHs, HAC / CAC, and associated data hall cooling infrastructure.
  • Review cooling capacity, system redundancy, hydraulic arrangements, energy efficiency, maintainability and operational suitability to identify potential design gaps, non-compliance and operational risks, working closely with the Mechanical Lead to resolve technical issues.
  • Support airflow management and validation of cooling strategies, including CFD simulation reviews and assessment of thermal performance.
  • Assist in reviewing liquid-cooling systems, including TCS, CDUs, FWS interfaces, piping arrangements, monitoring and leak detection.
  • Support the verification of cooling infrastructure against approved designs, tender commitments and technical requirements, including cooling capacity, resilience and performance under normal and failure operating conditions.
  • Assist in evaluating technical tender submissions, colocation proposals, equipment specifications, design changes and value-engineering proposals to ensure compliance with required performance, reliability and efficiency standards.
  • Coordinate with colocation providers, consultants, contractors, vendors, operations teams and internal stakeholders to resolve technical queries, review design deviations and track outstanding technical issues to closure.
  • Participate in FAT, SAT, installation inspections, testing and commissioning, and IST, where applicable.
  • Support the review of commissioning procedures, test results, defects and non-conformances to verify cooling system performance, operational readiness and compliance with agreed technical requirements.
  • Build familiarity with applicable Singapore codes, standards and authority requirements, and support the identification of regulatory compliance gaps, design issues and authority submission requirements.
  • Assist in project handover, technical documentation reviews and continuous improvement of data center cooling design standards and energy-efficiency practices.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • At least 2 years of relevant working experience in mechanical engineering design, HVAC systems, building services consultancy, mission-critical infrastructure or data center projects.
  • Experience with a mechanical / M&E design consultancy is strongly preferred. Candidates with solid HVAC engineering fundamentals and relevant project exposure are encouraged to apply.
  • Fundamental knowledge & design experience of data center cooling design, exposure to chilled-water systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, FWUs, CRAHs and data hall cooling or fit-out.
  • Familiarity with mechanical engineering drawings, schematics, equipment schedules, technical specifications, system redundancy and energy-efficiency principles.
  • Exposure to high-density cooling or liquid-cooling systems is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with relevant Singapore building codes, standards and statutory requirements, including applicable BCA, SCDF, PUB and NEA requirements, as well as ASHRAE and GMDC requirements, is advantageous.
  • Relevant data center certifications or training, such as CDCP, CDCS or Uptime Institute ATD/ATS, are a plus.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, CFD software or other mechanical design and analysis tools is advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an inquisitive mindset and willingness to challenge technical assumptions constructively.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable and detail-oriented team player, with a willingness to learn, take on increasing technical responsibilities and develop a long-term career in data center engineering.
  • Resourceful, with good industry awareness and an interest in building professional networks within the data center sector, is an advantage.
  • Willingness to attend project sites, technical inspections and testing activities in Southeast Asia and, where required, elsewhere in the region.
