Job Description

Responsibilities

The Client

Our client is a well-established and growing business in the global oil and energy markets, with a strong presence across Asia and Europe. The firm operates in a fast-paced trading and broking environment covering energy derivative products.

The Role

Our client is looking for a graduate Front Office Operations Analyst to join its Singapore team. The role suits candidates with 0–3 years’ experience who want a hands-on start in energy markets. Sitting close to the desk, the successful candidate will support the full trade lifecycle from capture through to settlement, working day to day with traders and brokers across Asian trading hours.

Full training will be provided. This is a hands-on role from day one, giving you a strong grounding in every stage of front office operations.

Responsibilities

  • Capturing trades into the trade management system and onto exchange, and processing amendments, cancellations and allocations
  • Preparing and issuing trade confirmations, and flagging exceptions for resolution
  • Supporting clearing and settlement across the major exchanges, meeting deadlines and internal control requirements
  • Performing daily reconciliations against counterparty, clearing and exchange records, and investigating trade breaks
  • Assisting with invoicing, following up outstanding balances, and fee reconciliation
  • Helping produce daily and monthly desk reporting
  • Acting as a first point of contact for front office queries on execution, settlement, margin and accounts, escalating where needed
  • Supporting new client and counterparty onboarding, including exchange and clearing account set-up
  • Maintaining product and client static data, and supporting regulatory reporting obligations
  • Working closely with colleagues in other regions to ensure a smooth handover across time zones

Requirements

  • A degree in a numerate or business discipline, such as finance, economics, mathematics, engineering or similar
  • 0–3 years’ experience; internships or a first role in operations, middle office, finance or a trading environment are an advantage but not essential
  • A genuine interest in energy and commodity markets, and in how trades are executed, cleared and settled
  • Strong Excel skills and a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Confidence communicating with front office staff, including under time pressure
  • Well organised, with the ability to prioritise and meet hard daily deadlines
  • Able to work on-site in Singapore, full-time, as part of a small team

Desirable

  • Some exposure to trade capture, confirmations, clearing or settlement, through an internship or a first role
  • Experience in a trading, broking or clearing environment
  • A working understanding of listed and OTC derivatives such as futures and swaps, across one or more commodity markets
  • Familiarity with reconciliations, invoicing or accounts receivable
  • Interest in client onboarding, KYC or exchange registration processes
  • Automation skills such as Excel VBA, Python or SQL
