Full Time Senior Backup Engineer Jobs, in ‎ Softenger Malaysia Federal Territory - Maukerja

Job Purpose:

To provide senior-level engineering, operational support, and technical leadership for enterprise backup and data protection services, ensuring reliable backup, recovery, replication, and disaster recovery capabilities across the organization. The role is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and continuously improving backup platforms while supporting projects, governance, audit requirements, capacity planning, operational resilience, and the transition of new solutions into business-as-usual operations. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide engineering and operational support for enterprise backup and data protection infrastructure.
• Install, configure, administer, patch, upgrade, and maintain backup master servers, media servers, proxies, agents, appliances, storage targets, and related infrastructure components.
• Monitor backup, replication, duplication, and recovery services, and take timely corrective action when failures or service degradation occur.
• Perform backup and restore activities for physical, virtual, database, application, cloud, and file-based workloads in accordance with approved service requirements.
• Maintain platform health, security, availability, and supportability through regular technical reviews and preventive maintenance. 
• Optimize backup and recovery solutions to meet business, operational, security, retention, and recovery requirements.
• Prepare technical designs, implementation plans, test plans, rollback plans, and operational handover documentation.
• Validate solution compatibility, scalability, recoverability, and integration with infrastructure, application, database, network, security, and monitoring services. 
•  Identify and implement improvements to reduce backup windows, improve restore performance, optimize storage utilization, and strengthen operational efficiency. 

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline. Equivalent professional experience may be considered. 
• 8 to 12 years of experience in enterprise backup, recovery, data protection, storage, or infrastructure operations.
• At least 3 years of experience in a senior engineering, technical lead, or project delivery capacity. 
•  Hands-on experience administering enterprise backup platforms and troubleshooting complex backup and restore issues.
• Experience supporting infrastructure upgrades, migrations, new solution implementations, disaster recovery exercises, and production transitions.
• Experience working in a large enterprise or regulated environment, with exposure to governance, risk, compliance, and audit requirements.
• Proven ability to coordinate vendors and cross-functional technical teams. 

Preferred Technical Experience

• Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Cohesity, Commvault, Dell PowerProtect Data Domain, ExaGrid, and enterprise tape libraries.
• Backup integration with VMware, Nutanix AHV, Microsoft Windows, Linux/Unix, Oracle RMAN, Microsoft SQL Server, and enterprise applications.
• Deduplication, replication, immutable or retention-locked storage, air-gapped protection, cyber recovery, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Scripting or automation using PowerShell, shell scripting, Python, Ansible, or platform APIs.
• Infrastructure monitoring, reporting, capacity analysis, and service management practices.
